Congratulations to University of Central Florida's Collegiate Cybersecurity Competition (C3) Team for their 2nd Place finish in the 2025 ISTS Competition. ISTS is an annual three-day cyber attack/defend competition hosted at Rochester Institute of Technology by RITSEC. Competing teams are faced with a wide variety of challenges which are designed to cover many facets of computing security, system administration, networking, and programming. These challenges include code review, architecture design, incident response, and policy writing -- all while defending a completely student-built infrastructure. Competitors' skills are put to the test by adding an external red team of security professionals including industry partners and passionate alumni. The red team performs offensive actions against the competitors during the entire competition. I'm thrilled to announce the Collegiate Cybersecurity Competition (C3) Team at University of Central Florida won the 2025 Higher Education Cyber Cup hosted by SimSpace. The intense 4-hour competition provided 11 university teams with a unique opportunity to test their Blue Team skills in a competitive yet collaborative environment. Each team was provided access to a complex isolated cyber range with a mixture of operating systems, applications, and configurations spread across multiple partially interconnected sub-networks. UCF's team finished in 1st Place with 17,850 points after battling neck and neck for much of the competition with our friends and 2nd Place finisher, The University of Texas at San Antonio who scored 15,925 points. Our neighbors at University of South Florida finished in 3rd Place with 12,755 points, followed closely by Western Governors University in 4th Place with 11,910 points and Penn State University in 5th Place with 11,365 points. We love to see our students sharing their time and talent! Hack@UCF played host to high school competitors at the OCPS Central Florida Cyber Challenge, held at the UCF downtown campus last week. UCF students also participated in their own separate competition to hone their skills. The contests served as preparation for the statewide CyberLaunch competition this April.

Jacob Salmon Tabur Salmon This year was a big undertaking for us, with a 43% capacity increase and entirely remade backend becoming the largest student run Cyber Defense Competition in Florida! And to finish off the post here are some quick statistics we enjoyed from the competition, - 166 competitors across 41 teams - 52 box resets - Service with most downtime: Web Server - 743 horses plinked - Nearly 25% female competitors

Congratulations to A Team with A Dream from the University of Central Florida, the winner of the 2024 CyberForce Competition?! This year's competition focused on defending a wind generation power plant from cyberattacks – and A Team with A Dream worked together to successfully keep those turbines running!
