At College Beyond, we believe that using data effectively is critical to creating meaningful change in the lives of students. We’re excited to share that members of the College Beyond team—Karaline Zeigler, MSW, LCSW-BACS , Destiny Brown and Carolyn Le —recently presented on “Using Data to Assess Programmatic Impact & Inform Intervention” to an audience of high school, nonprofit and postsecondary practitioners at the 2024 Life After High School Convening presented by the Cowen Institute and NOLA CCAN. During the session, our team provided a deep dive into our Annual Student Survey, a research-informed tool that helps us collect, analyze, and act on critical data to support our students’ success, which included an interactive opportunity for attendees to reflect on their own data collection and response practices, fostering collective learning among practitioners. A big thank you to the Cowen Institute for partnering with us to co-host October's NOLA-CCAN session! We welcomed admissions officers from Northwestern University, the University of Southern California, Dartmouth College, and Princeton University, who shared invaluable insights on selective college admissions with local high school counselors. Together, we explored case studies and discussed how colleges are re-evaluating standardized testing requirements in the post-COVID landscape. These sessions are more than just informative—they’re empowering. By connecting local counselors with a diverse range of schools and equipping them with strategies to help their students take full advantage of these opportunities, we’re ensuring that all students, regardless of background, have access to affordable and varied post-secondary options.
