CPA made the AP's Platinum Honor Roll for 2024. Our Phoenix continue to RISE, demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence. As designers and community residents consider the ways in which people occupy space, placemaking is rapidly emerging as its own discipline. The question of what makes a place desirable to live, work and study is one communities grapple with regularly – what makes a city a ‘great’ place? Here in College Park, there are visible and enjoyable examples of placemaking located throughout town.?

Meet Andy Dahl, the public artist behind College Park's latest public art installation. In his work, Dahl centers human connections, enhancing public spaces in a way relevant to the communities in which they are placed. The mixed-media project will be affixed to a highly visible facade College Park’s?downtown commercial center; signaling to both residents and visitors that downtown is a place for public arts and culture. The project is supported by the Prince George's County Redevelopment Authority's Community Impact Grant, and the City of College Park's Fa?ade Improvement Grant. ?

This week, University Business listed the Partnership's Live+Work College Park Program among several homebuyer assistance programs in the U.S. expanding to ease housing costs for employees. Employees face a competitive housing market and elevated interest rates, which ultimately influence employment decisions. "This “invisible housing crisis” can also disrupt efforts to attract and retain talented faculty and staff,?according to a report?last year from the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area," says Alcino Donadel. We're pleased to be among the handful of programs working to ease housing pressures on employees and look forward to welcoming more employees to College Park. https://lnkd.in/eZTp4mSh

Reflecting on the past year and a half, it's rewarding to see that our hard work, dedication, and commitment have paid off. Our small but mighty team, along with our great partners, successfully hosted the International Town Gown Association Conference in College Park, in addition to all our community engagement efforts. I am deeply grateful to our community, my team, and the leadership for their support in advancing the public good. Ingenuity, creativity, tenacity, and intentionality made it all possible. We can now add conference execution to our achievements. It has been a month since the conference, and last night we celebrated. Time flies......
