Enhancing Arts Education at College Park Academy We extend our sincere gratitude to the College Park Arts Exchange and Melissa Sites for their generous $30,000 grant, which significantly enriched our arts education programs during the 2024-2025 school year. This funding enabled 112 middle and high school students to engage in performing, visual, literary, and martial arts, covering student fees, program facilitators' salaries, and essential resources such as supplies and equipment. The impact of this support was far-reaching, providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents through performances, receive martial arts training, and participate in a workshop with a guest author, which engaged 681 students and their families in an interactive literacy evening. By expanding access to the arts, this grant has played a vital role in fostering artistic development, cultural awareness, and creative skills, reinforcing College Park Academy’s commitment to a comprehensive and inclusive arts education. They heard firsthand from the admissions team and Hank Boyd, PhD, JD, MBA · Assistant Dean for Civic Engagement, who also serves on our Board as the Marketing Committee Chair. A leading Smith expert in marketing, advertising, pop culture, sports, branding, and intellectual property, Dr. Boyd shared invaluable insights on business education and career success. Through our strong UMD partnership, CPA students gain unparalleled networking, social, and academic opportunities—learning from top researchers and business leaders while forming valuable faculty connections. ???? Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of meeting Maryland State Senator Alonzo Washington (D-22, Prince George’s County) and many other leaders at the State House for Charter Advocacy Day! We’re grateful for Senator Washington's support and the opportunity to work together to increase understanding of the role public charter schools play in our state. Public charter schools in Maryland are making a real impact—delivering strong academic outcomes, expanding opportunities for students, and serving diverse communities across the state.
