A single mistake or mishap can have significant consequences for a pilot, both personally and professionally! Flying and Learning to fly, while enjoyable and fun, should at the same time be taken as a serious endeavour and not a frivolous pastime! Learn from the most experienced flying instructors and avoid gaps in training and decision making that could have negative consequences! 1. Safety implications: A mistake or mishap can jeopardize the safety of passengers, crew members, and the aircraft. It may result in accidents, injuries, or even fatalities. The pilot may face legal consequences and investigations from aviation authorities. 2. Damage to reputation: The aviation industry places a high value on professionalism and safety. A single mistake can damage a pilot's reputation, leading to diminished trust from colleagues, employers, and the public. It may affect future job prospects and career advancement. 3. Happy Friday! Beyond insurance benefits, mentorship, support and networking, members also have access to newsletters, op-eds and analyses to help them build a good grasp of the industry and the pilot market. Here's an excerpt of our latest newsletter sent out today and also available on the logged-in member-side of www.collegeofpilots.ca "Large cohorts graduating at the same time flood the pilot market at the low-experience end, exacerbating the challenges for these individuals to become employed as pilots soon after their studies. Consequently, in our market system, it is to be expected that operators will take advantage. Ground-to-flight programs, ramping, training bonds, and vague promises of a flying position in exchange for working in other positions after a period are familiar to all except those looking to start a flight training program. [...]That is, clearly, the current state of affairs post-pandemic and in the midst of a pilot shortage of sorts (has it finally come to pass?!) results in even poorer outcomes for safety, for pilots, and for operators than even a decade or two ago. [...] A professional College endeavours to holistically support the entire development and progression of pilots, because at every stage, the skills, standards, and professionalism of each commercial-level pilot affects us all.? To that effect, the College is going right to the source. The flight schools that produce our fledgling flocks have always had their traditional set of challenges..."
