"My time as an AmeriCorps VISTA has provided me the opportunity to take ownership of a project unlike any other I had prior experience with. Because of the support of my Host Site and the Campus Compact teams, I have felt supported the whole way while also feeling like I have room to make decisions on my own. I have also had the great opportunity to connect with other VISTA's not only at the same Host Site as myself but with VISTA's across the country. I've thoroughly enjoyed the professional and personal relationships I have developed." ??Ryan Callahan, Fellow Financial Support VISTA @collegeforsi. @americorps VISTA’s build capacity & address community challenges to make sustainable change at nonprofit organizations & public agencies nationwide. ??All students that participate in our fellowship programs also become quarter-time AmeriCorps members. As members, you’ll have the opportunity to meet like-minded leaders, leverage the Employers of National Service network & receive a financial award. So, huge kudos to all our fellows & VISTA’s, present & past! You strengthen our communities & help us believe in better tomorrows. There’s lots for us to celebrate this AmeriCorps Week ??

Are you a Boston-area nonprofit, social mission business, or government agency looking to add affordable capacity to your organization? CFSI's flagship program, Semester in the City (SITC), is currently accepting application from Boston-area internship host organizations. What Is Semester in the City? ?? SITC is an innovative study away program that places motivated college and gap year students in internships at mission-driven organizations for a 14-week, 400+ hour internship that is fully credited and supported by two supplemental classes.? ?? Since 2016, over 700 SITC Fellows have helped 220+ nonprofits, social enterprises, and government agencies expand their impact by contributing operational capacity and dedicated project support to their internship host sites. ?? Past hosts have found that Fellows bring enthusiasm, new perspectives, and meaningful contributions to their teams. As Laetitia Pierre-Louis, longtime mentor at Center to Support Immigrant Organizing, shared: “The benefit of a partnership with CFSI is that they take their time in ensuring that organizations like ours can get extra staff to support projects. I have nothing but good things to say about all of our fellows. The matching process is incredible.” To host a SITC Fellow, you must? ?? Complete an application by April 28 to host a Fellow for the Fall semester. In the application, you’ll need to indicate an internship mentor and special project that the Fellow will lead. ?? Commit to paying a $950 fee if placed, which directly supports the student’s living stipend. While SITC internships are unpaid, students receive a full semester of college credit and financial aid, plus ~$3,800 in direct financial benefits, including an unlimited MBTA pass. Follow the links in comments to learn more, and complete an interest form to indicate that you are interested in 1) connecting with our team to learn more about hosting a Fellow or 2) raising your hand to confirm that you intend to apply for a Fall semester Fellow by the April 28 application deadline!

A huge thank you to College for Social Innovation for their excellent Semester in the City program here in Boston. This is the second time I've been a mentor in their program and I cannot say enough good things about the support structures in place for students and employers in this program. I am excited about the impact that Jason and his projects will have on our work at Studio HPDC!
Studio HPDC is excited to welcome, Jason Stanley, as our Finance and Impact Coordinator for the Spring Semester. Jason joins Studio HPDC as a Fellow with College for Social Innovation. Many thanks to the excellent CFSI program for matching Studio HPDC with Jason! Here is Jason to introduce himself: "My name is Jason Stanley and I am a senior finance student at Lasell University and a fellow with College for Social Innovation. I am excited to join Studio for High Performance Design and Construction as a Finance and Impact Coordinator. My focus is on tracking financial and impact data; meanwhile, curating a dashboard to best communicate Studio HPDC performance. Additionally, I will be assisting with the High Performance Building for Carpenters courses, furthering my knowledge of high performance construction."

My Summer Internship Journey 2023 @ IFSI - Immigrant Family Services Institute - USA ?? I am very happy to share my memorable summer internship experience at Immigrant Family Services Institute, Inc. (IFSI-USA) in Boston, MA even though it took place last Spring semester and continued until the summer of 2023. This transformative opportunity made possible through the College for Social Innovation (CFSI) program, allowed me to work closely with IFSI-USA—an NGO dedicated to supporting immigrant families. I contributed to various departments, with a primary focus on immigration and the legal department and I was eventually entrusted with assisting in the drafting of asylum applications throughout the semester. Participating in drafting Asylum applications for Haitian immigrants developed my understanding of asylum law and the challenges faced by individuals seeking refuge in the United States. During the semester, I had the incredible opportunity to work closely with immigrant families and contribute to empowering them in several ways. I especially learned lessons from working with immigrant families and their stories and experiences have become an integral part of my journey, constantly reminding me not to stop making a positive impact. Throughout my internship, the colleagues I worked with became more than just coworkers; they became my second family. We shared not only professional goals and challenges but also memorable feelings of support! Thank you IFSI for making this place so memorable for the sense of warmth and inclusivity you gave me from the first day of my internship. My involvement in the IFSI legal department provided me with invaluable insights into the challenges faced by immigrants and allowed me to actively participate in the process of drafting asylum applications. Moving forward, I am now fully prepared to pursue a career in the legal field! I would like to express a special thank you to Eric Schwarz, the Co-founder of the CFSI program, for his visionary leadership in making this opportunity possible. I would like to also express my gratitude to Dr. Geralde Gabeau, the Executive Director of IFSI-USA, for providing me with this incredible opportunity. Her belief in my potential has had a profound impact on my work experience. Dr. Gabeau's commitment to empowering immigrant families and her dedication to creating positive change in the community is truly inspiring. Let's connect and grow together! ?? ?? ?? #LegalField? #AsylumLaw #InternshipExperience #EmpoweringImmigrantFamilies #IFSIUSA #NonProfitOrganization #SocialImpact #CFSIProgram #Boston #InclusiveWorld ??
