MILPA had the honor of hosting Reframing the Narrative convention in Visalia, CA which brought multiple movement organizations together to discuss the state of the narrative throughout the region. The Central Region Convening aimed to gather organizers and movement partners from the Central Coast and Central Valley to discuss the state of the narrative in these regions. In this convening, we focused on two particular modules. In the first module, we shared strategies and dialogues about building effective movement communications capacity. In the second portion of the day, we shifted our focus to properly preparing to support the development of movement communications and narrative infrastructure within organizations. On the final day, we spent the day in nature, reflecting, building, and strengthening the social emotional connection between individuals and organizations. Since it started over seven years ago, we've been proud members of Radical Communicators Network (RadComms). It's not your average ListServ; it's an amazing community of practice for communicators, activists, organizers, and other change-makers all over the US (and the world!) working to build narrative power for social justice. It's a wonderful place to share/find jobs, discuss ideas and best practices, ask for/share recommendations, and so much more. And now you can apply to be a member, too!
We are thrilled to share that we have launched our new application form for prospective members of the Radical Communicators Network ListServ. The new form can be found here: radcommsnetwork.org/join. All prospective members must submit the form on the website to be considered for ListServ membership. We recommend setting aside 20-30 minutes to complete the application and answering questions thoughtfully so we can get to know you. In tandem with the new application form, we are proud to debut our revised Guiding Principles (https://lnkd.in/gb_d9fAa). We require all prospective members to review these materials and confirm their understanding of them before submitting an application. For over seven years, the RadComms ListServ has served as a truly unique forum to incubate revolutionary narrative strategies and connect with other communications workers and organizers around the world. We want to ensure that as we grow the ecosystem of leftist narrative strategists and sharpen our collective practice through discussion, analysis, and collaboration, we do so in a way that prioritizes the safety of existing members and ensures that new members are informed and aligned. We appreciate your patience throughout this process and look forward to welcoming new members to the RadComms ListServ soon!
