Microplastics have been detected in the human brain. ?? ?? ?? We just wrapped up our second segment of Bridging the Gap, a series co-hosted by Wyss Institute at Harvard University and Collaborative Fund, featuring insightful discussions with scientists, market thought leaders, and policy. The takeaway: Microplastics are emerging as one of the defining health and environmental challenges of our time. They’re everywhere, and their alarming effects are just coming to light—early data suggests they’ve been found in critical human organs and have crossed the blood-brain barrier at surprising levels. There’s so much work ahead, from closing data gaps in human microplastic tracking/diagnostics to advancing environmental remediation and degradation technologies. Maybe this means in a future not too far away, microplastics testing will become a routine part of health assessments?
