Is Hot? Are they working hard? Are they Confused? Heat stroke can happen faster than you think—and when it does, every second counts. As an Athletic Trainer or OEHS professional, your ability to recognize the warning signs can mean the difference between life and death. Ask yourself: Is it hot? – High temperatures, high humidity, or direct sun exposure? Risk is rising. Are they working hard? – Intense activity, heavy gear, or prolonged exertion? Their core temp is climbing. Are they confused? – Dizziness, disorientation, slurred speech, or collapse? This is an emergency! Take Action Immediately! Cool them down FAST – Heat stroke requires immediate cooling to prevent organ failure. Call 911 – Heat stroke is life-threatening—activate emergency medical response.
