[Our own way ??] A One-of-a-Kind Project in Alaska, USA! ?? The Cooper Landing bypass, currently under construction by COLASKA INC, is transforming life in Cooper Landing, a small town nestled between mountains and rivers. This road, originally designed in the 1940s, connects the Kenai Peninsula to Anchorage but could no longer handle the growing traffic volume. Today, a new 10-mile route is taking shape to ensure smoother traffic flow. With five wildlife corridors, marked trails for hikers, and a future bike path, this project combines technical expertise, acceptability, and respect for biodiversity. “Ignoring our environment here would be counterintuitive,” explains Sarah Lefebvre, Environmental Manager for Colaska. An impressive logistical operation has been implemented to manage this long-term construction project. Local material extraction requires the teams’ thorough knowledge of geological studies. With its over 650,00 mi2 of land, thousands of lakes and glaciers, and the highest peaks in North America, Alaska imposes its own conditions. Colas teams are tackling these challenges to improve transportation while preserving an exceptional territory. Colaska - Colas' subsidiary Exclusive Paving in Fairbanks, AK is sponsoring a Christmas Tree as part of the Winter Holiday Walk. They chose a Traffic Cone motif - the tree was painted orange, and white to spec with a flashing beacon at the top. The Walk is part of Fairbanks Winter Solstice Festival and the tree will be part of a competition that is decided on December 21st. Colaska wishes to thank Nikki Nihipali, Eric Sanchez, Rachel Curtis, Paul McCarty and Brandi Thomas for decorating the site.
