??? Hurricane Milton: A Wake-Up Call for Tampa Bay On October 9, Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida. According to NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, Hurricane Milton became the Gulf’s strongest late-season storm on record, with its explosive intensification fueled in part by record to near-record warmth across the Gulf of Mexico. The storm impacted Tampa Bay, causing flooding in unexpected areas and highlighting the increasing severity of storms driven by climate change. Rising temperatures and sea levels are making hurricanes more powerful and destructive, and communities like ours are feeling the effects firsthand. Climatetech Summit Houston is off to a great start this morning, full of insights on hydrogen, pilot projects and alternatives, entrepreneurship, and of course, plenty of startup pitches! ?? This morning's program kicked off with remarks from Greentown Houston's General Manager + SVP Timmeko Moore Love and our Champion Sponsor GE Vernova's Sameer Bandhu before our Keynote Fireside Chat with J.P. Morgan's Kelly Belcher all about how JP Morgan is adapting its financing offerings to support early-stage startups. From there, our first round of startup pitches took to the stage: SkyH2O, GigaDAC, frakktal, Hertha Metals, Capwell Services, and Axis Sky Renewables!
