With a distinguished career spanning decades, Arend has made a lasting impact in complex litigation and appellate advocacy, helping to shape the law while mentoring the next generation of attorneys. Rightly regarded by many as the smartest person in the room -- any room -- he has been a source of wisdom, insight and intellectual curiosity that has elevated the work of those around him. Another of Arend's greatest accolades has been his approachability. Arend was never too busy to answer a question, share his knowledge, or challenge others with his thoughtful inquiries. Arend's door was always open, and his generosity in mentoring colleagues has left an immeasurable mark on our firm. We extend our deepest gratitude for Arend's years of service, leadership and friendship. His presence is irreplaceable, but his influence will be felt for years to come. We are beyond pleased to share that the Second Circuit Court of Appeals has denied Gerber Life Insurance Company’s petition to halt the case while the appellate court reviews the class certification order. This means class notice will likely now be issued, allowing millions of affected consumers to formally be notified of the lawsuit. CohenMalad, LLP attorneys leading the case for Plaintiffs, Lynn Toops and Natalie Lyons, have also moved for summary judgment asking the Court to enter judgment for the certified classes. https://lnkd.in/gXZC5_-y

Our firm is proud to share that Lynn Toops of CohenMalad, LLP has been appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in litigation against MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc. and MoneyGram International, Inc. This class action lawsuit seeks justice for individuals impacted by the MoneyGram data breach. U.S. District Judge Brantley Starr granted Plaintiffs’ motion for Interim Class Counsel this month, appointing Toops and fellow attorneys W. Mark Lanier, Shauna Itri, Yana Hart, Thomas E. Loeser, J. Gerard Stranch IV, Megan Shannon, Edward J. Wynne, Kevin Laukaitis to case leadership. Lynn’s appointment to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee highlights her extensive experience in consumer class actions and her unwavering commitment to protecting the rights of those affected by corporate negligence.
