Rome wasn't built in a day, neither is a sophisticated Learning Health System platform. Maturity models present a comprehensive framework for healthcare organizations to evaluate and evolve their data and analytical capabilities. In this episode (E2), we introduce our Data and Analytic Maturity Model for #LearningHealthSystem, which serves as a strategic roadmap for healthcare institutions to assess their current analytical competencies and plan their growth toward becoming a true learning health system. I'm at The Health Management Academy AI conference (Fall AI Collaborative) - super interesting to hear what all of the health systems are doing with AI - which ranges from helping answer messages from patients, to predicting Sepsis, to improving billing and beyond. Most of what happens here we've all sworn to secrecy to promote collaboration. But one quote from Troy Tazbaz of the FDA stood out (and he explicitly said he's on the record in public on this issue so I'm going to re-post it here). People were asking how the Chevron decision at the Supreme court might affect AI governance. And he simply said (and I'm paraphrasing) that there is a reason we have experts. We should not expect lawyers or judges to be experts on deeply complex issues. And that it's dangerous if all of our disagreements get shuttled to them for resolution. I loved his talk - especially how he took controversial issues and broke them down into logical, simple, controllable parts. #Learning #AI #FDA
