When asked to collaborate on the expansion of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art with Safdie Architects, there was plenty of inspiration to draw from. The original vision of the project featured a strong relationship with water. In our design process, we explored the relationship between water, meadow, forest, geology, art, and humans. Visitors to the museum will be encouraged to interact with the many ecosystems surrounding this incredible institution. Coen+Partners continues to strengthen our understanding that we are an integral part of nature, and we celebrate this connection and as well as the connection with others. Set next to a verdant park in Singapore, Sky Habitat is a residential development with two distinctly shaped, stepped towers designed with a combination of public and private spaces. Outside and inside blend seamlessly throughout and between the two towers, creating urban oases with stunning views. Inspired by the region’s traditional hillside housing, the design maximizes and equalizes access to light, greenery and city views in a high density living environment. Our firm worked closely with Safdie Architects to create the seamless integration of architecture and landscape architecture.

Today, we are celebrating Laura Kamin-Lyndgaard’s recent promotion to Director at Coen+Partners. Laura’s contributions to Coen+Partners over the past decade have been invaluable and her expertise and leadership have consistently made an impact on all of our C+P team members, clients and projects. This #FlashbackFriday, we are reflecting on the Sun Valley Residence located in Idaho. Completed in 2017, this quarter acre family retreat has spectacular views of Bald and Proctor mountains—two iconic landmarks of regional alpine skiing. Inspired by the context of high altitudes and a limited native plant palette, the landscape design blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living. Shared materials help to create an extension of regional geology, local ecology, and architecture. Collaborators: Janis Jarvis Group

Deb Bond, Coen+Partners’ Chief Financial & Strategy Officer, has been named an honoree of Finance & Commerce’s 2024 Top Women in Finance. This award recognizes women making an impact in the finance industry by breaking down barriers and paving the way for future generations of women. Coen+Partners is grateful and proud to have Deb’s leadership and vision guiding our firm. We’re excited to share our latest collaboration with Olson Kundig on Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles, featuring a 10-story condominium building and eight adjacent single-family homes. Our team crafted the streetscape and site design for each residence, including private terraces, a pool deck, gardens, fencing, and wall elements throughout the development. To connect the multi-family and single-family spaces, we emphasized California’s native biomes, using chaparral landscapes and region-specific grasses and plantings to create a cohesive yet distinct environment for each property. This urban landscape design thoughtfully integrates homes and gardens atop an underground parking structure. Placement of gardens, walls, and trees, helped overcome soil limitations, creating lush spaces that seamlessly blend with the surrounding landscape. Photography by Nils Timm Visuals

Refined geometries and repetition reverberate like poetry through this landscape. #ThrowbackThursday to Beverly Hills Residence completed with Standard Architecture | Design. The half-acre urban lot required a complete redesign from being crowded and overgrown. Every site intervention was approached as art, creating sculptural equilibrium among all components and creating exterior rooms as an extension of the architecture. The project was a winner of a 2016 Beverly Hills Design Award.

Together with our incredible clients at Destination Medical Center and the City of Rochester, we are thrilled to celebrate the opening of Discovery Walk in downtown Rochester, Minnesota! Located near the Mayo Clinic, the site extends from the center of downtown, at our award-winning Heart of the City Plaza, through Discovery Square, and south to Soldier’s Field and to Rochester’s City Loop. The project transformed a formerly car-centric public street into a green parkway that now focuses on pedestrians and cyclists, connecting the heart of downtown to one of the city’s most beautiful parks. Our team collaborated with local public artists and embedded multiple public art works as an integral part of the design. Discovery Walk expands on the experience and insight Coen+Partners has gained working on a precedent-setting cycling and wellness corridor currently under construction in Riyadh. Coen+Partners has an extensive portfolio of work in arid climates, spanning from the large scale public landscape designed for the Sports Boulevard Foundation in Riyadh, to the natural terrain of this Arizona Residence in Paradise Valley. The sensitive and specific contexts allow us to respond in complimentary yet distinctive ways.? Set within the hillside, this landscape blends into the surrounding beauty of the natural terrain. This signature home designed by Charles R. Stinson is defined by its “open arms”—two wings of the house feature expansive cantilevered decks that frame the view toward the mountain range in the distance. A simple palette of limestone and light gray granite was implemented throughout the dynamic landscape to complement the materials and forms of the house. Meanwhile, the zero-edge swimming pool reflects the sky and integrates the far-reaching landscape into the most intimate spaces of the home.
