I am eager to kickoff the American Telemedicine Association's #HealthAnywhere Summit tomorrow. Working in a field that weaves in your lived experience, your passion, and your "why", is something that is not lost on me. A year ago I took this picture at my parents house. The speed dial entries on the landline phone like a time capsule... my Grandmother's painting, and the "V" for Viola exuding my mom's pride in family. She and my Dad made the choice for her to stay home as long as possible- in the comforts of her familiar surroundings, where memories were made, and where she could receive as much care as possible. I can't wait to talk about others experiences with the ATA and my co-host Carrie Nixon as we dig into new models of care, the local aspects of what so many amazing health systems are doing around the country, and what's next for Health Anywhere. Thank you DeAnna Grosbaum, Ann Mond Johnson and others for bringing me into this great topic with you.

At the University of California Irvine, the introduction of an acuity adaptable staffing model in the cardiovascular unit led to notable improvements. The model decreased failure-to-rescue rates by 2.9%, reduced ICU stays by 3.92 days, and shortened overall hospital stays by 12.5 days. Additionally, this approach significantly boosted staff engagement, with a turnover rate of just 4.9%. I lost my Mom in May. I am finally able to tell this story- especially how our journey as a family impacted my career. I've been pondering the new healthcare economy recently - from lingering #workforce challenges to the evolving role of #AI, the importance of empathy amidst burnout, and my focus on #populationhealth from grad school. Lately, I've been exploring various communities to understand their unique healthcare dynamics. During one outing, I crossed paths with friends at GE HealthCare, witnessing their innovative bus tour. In a time when travel constraints affect healthcare professionals, this initiative is both inspiring and practical...
