Thank you for the opportunity Code Resolve Queens College On March 3rd, I had the opportunity to host my first technical workshop, The Art of Programming Languages. The idea came from a TikTok video where a content creator asked computer science students to identify different programming languages just from a snippet of code—surprisingly, most got it wrong. This got me thinking: how well do we really understand the programming languages we use every day? In this session, I broke down the fundamentals of programming languages, covering their different paradigms, real-world applications, and the languages taught in our university’s curriculum. I wasn’t sure how much interest a theory-based workshop would get, but to my surprise, 15-20 students from different academic years showed up, all eager to expand their knowledge! Some of the key topics we explored: ?? The different types of programming languages and how they shape the way we write code. ?? Why certain languages dominate specific industries and how they’re applied in the real world. ?? Extra learning resources for students looking to go beyond what’s taught in class. It was amazing to see so many students engaged in discussions about programming at a deeper level. Hosting this workshop made me even more excited to share knowledge and create more opportunities for students to grow as developers.
