Since 2013, the Fort Lyon Supportive Residential Community has provided recovery-oriented transitional housing on an expansive campus in Bent County, Colorado by combining housing with peer support, and educational, vocational, and employment services to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Each December, the Denver community comes together on the shortest day of the year to honor those neighbors who passed away in the preceding year while experiencing homelessness. For 35 years, the Coalition has hosted this event in honor of those who have died in the previous year. For many, this will be the only service to mark their death. Please join us at 4:30 PM on Saturday, December 21st outside the Denver & City County building located at 1437 Bannock Street. Winter Wear Donations: Winter is a dangerous time for our unhoused neighbors and warm clothing can go a long way to keeping everyone safe. We are excited to welcome residents into their new home at Renewal Village, the 23rd property of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless! Opened in November of 2024, this 215-unit residence was previous the Clarion Inn, a hotel and conference center that had served the Globeville area since the 1970s. Now that we are open for residents, we invite you to get to know Renewal Village a bit more by watching our tour video below to see some of the renovations, units and amenities, and to learn about the wraparound services offered on-site at Renewal Village. https://lnkd.in/g5jttg_d Hotel-to-housing conversion projects like Renewal Village are just one piece of the puzzle in creating lasting solutions to homelessness. While we welcome new residents to Renewal Village, we will continue to work to do the work of improving the lives of those at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

The Coalition's Renaissance Children’s Center (RCC) and Early Intervention Services recently partnered with our CCH Eye Clinic to conduct a comprehensive vision screening for the young children at RCC. The event was a great success, with six children identified as needing follow-up care for potential vision issues. Catching these concerns early is critical, as it allows for timely interventions that can support each child’s development and learning as they grow. By addressing potential vision challenges now, RCC and the vision clinic are helping to lay a strong foundation for these children’s future success in and outside the classroom. A big thank you to the dedicated staff at RCC and the vision clinic team for making this impactful collaboration possible!
