(03/05/2025) Cochise County has posted the position of Elections Director following Interim Director Marisol “Marty” Renteria’s decision to return to her role in the County’s Information Technology department. Renteria, who stepped into the interim position in February 2024 and will remain in place during the hiring process and to assist the new director, played a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Elections Department during a critical period. “The past year has been an incredible experience, and I deeply appreciate the dedication and professionalism of the Elections Department staff,” Renteria said. “I have the utmost respect for the work they do, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have supported them during this transition.” Board Chair Frank Antenori acknowledged Renteria’s contributions and reaffirmed the County’s commitment to maintaining stability in the Elections Department. “We can’t thank Marty enough for her dedication and willingness to step up when the County needed her most,” Antenori said. “She dealt with numerous challenges and withstood significant scrutiny. Her steady hand and leadership helped to ensure the elections team’s success at a crucial time. As we move forward with the hiring process, we will focus on securing strong, experienced leadership for this vital department.” The Elections Director position is now open for applications and can be found on the Cochise County website. ####

This prestigious award reflects the county's dedication to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and clear communication in financial planning. To receive this recognition, the county's budget met rigorous national standards, demonstrating excellence in four key areas: ?? Policy Documentation – Ensuring financial decisions align with strategic goals. ?? Financial Planning – Presenting a comprehensive and responsible fiscal roadmap. ?? Operational Guidance – Providing a clear framework for county departments. ?? Under his leadership, Cochise College has flourished, enhancing academic programs, increasing student enrollment and fostering partnerships that have benefited both students and the broader community. His commitment to innovation in education, coupled with his deep understanding of cultural studies and social mobility, has left an indelible mark on the institution and the many lives it has touched. Dr. Rottweiler’s contributions extend beyond the college campus. His leadership has been widely recognized, earning him numerous accolades including the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Shirley B.
