Our Staff Spotlight for November is Colleen Noel, business office administrative manager. For Colleen, “It is a pleasure to serve the COBYS organization and I LOVE the people I work with on a daily basis. It is satisfying to me to find ways to be more efficient in our business operation systems. It is my hope that creating these efficiencies ultimately benefits the families and children we support and serve.” Colleen helps COBYS by overseeing things like upgrades to our phone system, documentation for human resources, expense documentation and technology needs. Thank you, Colleen for supporting your team and the entire COBYS organization, creating confidence in our services that benefit children and families. ?

Our Staff Spotlight for October is Permanency Supervisor, Summer Weaver. Summer has been with COBYS for almost 5 years and become an integral member of our leadership team during that span. Summer enjoys walking alongside parents and kids, and even in the challenging work, the ability to give them dignity and hope makes a difference. Summer is a shining example of the COBYS Difference, as she shares a touching moment that she orchestrated using the Kids’ Closet. Summer gathered and wrapped some books for a child who recently turned one; she was aware that mom was unable to be a part of the birthday and petitioned the judge to allow mom and child to share a moment opening gifts and celebrate a joyous moment. Summer adds this about COBYS and the staff on her team, “We mutually support and care for one another, which helps to create a culture where people like to come to work despite the challenges of the job. We love to laugh, eat, and listen to one another. We are passionate about our work and thankful we get to do it together.” Thank you, Summer for everything you do for our children and families and all the value to bring to COBYS!

Sara and I love to give and mostly, we believe you should give in secret because your reward is better when you give with a completely pure motivation and not to get anything. With that being said, there are times where we love the partner with our community and introducing the new ice cream seems like the perfect opportunity! Sara Taylor and I are both extremely passionate about supporting adoption and fostering which is why we are excited to get behind COBYS Family Services for our exclusive ice cream event at our York location! Our Staff Spotlight for September is Landon Miller, LPC. Landon Miller is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He has been with COBYS since 2011 as a foster care caseworker, and then joined the counseling department in 2015. He works with adolescents and adults in various life situations where anxiety, depression, symptoms of trauma, or relational issues may be present. Landon shares, “One thing that I enjoy in my job as a therapist is finding ways to increase the feeling of hopefulness in the people I’m working with, to help them feel confident in their capability to handle what’s coming.” He also works as a resource parent trainer with COBYS foster parents as they navigate parenting children and adolescents in their care. Landon is surrounded by a team of caring people who support each other, and the benefits translate to each client session in building a positive setting. Thank you Landon, for being a shining example of the COBYS Difference in care!

For 44 years COBYS Family Services has been serving children, adults and families in the community. To best serve the community in an ever-changing social services landscape, we are conducting a strategic planning process and need your assistance. ?We ask that you complete a survey about your experience interacting with COBYS.
