On a positive note, I wanted to celebrate the great experience of the Startup Champions Network Summit where it was all about building entrepreneurial ecosystems.?Overall, I felt like I was brought into a family by Alfredo Mathew III, Amy Chan, and Alfred Solis (the 3 A’s crew).?Such good people, and I felt at home because the team put their money where their mouth is and hosted the first day of the Summit at CoBiz Richmond, Inc. It was incredible witnessing the power that folks are maneuvering with. Talks that especially stood out to me were Mimi M Hernandez and Martha Hernández, SHRM-SCP, two powerful CEO’s who shared how they're pioneering entrepreneurial ecosystems. I love how Wesley Alexander stepped up to share how CoBiz has built an ecosystem of business, wellness, and community. And Tara Lynn Gray wow you can command an audience! The team even organized a bus tour of Oakland (the real Oaktown) with Exceptional Community Connections, LLC Letitia Henderson, MSW and a visit to the Oakland Museum of California (shamefully a first for me - as I’m 6 years into living in the Bay). At the museum, the night was concluded with food and drink. I am grateful for the invite and look forward to building these ecosystems alongside of y’all with the outreach model of STEAM the Streets! After almost a year of advocacy to the City Council by our CEO (Wesley Alexander) and Andrea Portillo-Knowles, MSIOP, MBTI (R) (former ED of RMSI), the City of Richmond, California has finally activated ARPA funds to support local businesses that began operating on or before March 13, 2020! This is a fantastic opportunity for those impacted by the pandemic to access financial relief through the Richmond ARPA Funds Relief Grant. ? Grants are designed to help alleviate some of that burden. Grant amounts are: - $5,000 for solopreneurs, - Up to $7,500 for businesses with 2-5 employees or a physical location, - Up to $10,000 for businesses with more than 5 employees.
