?? URGENT: Severe Weather Outbreak Expected – High Risk for Tornadoes and Damaging Winds ?? The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting a Severe Weather Outbreak for our area. ?? Timing Initial Round: Tonight through early Saturday morning—general thunderstorms with a marginal risk for severe weather. Main Threat Window: Saturday, 11 PM – Sunday, 5 AM—This is when the most dangerous conditions are expected. ?? Risk Levels Western Cobb County: MODERATE RISK (Level 4 of 5) – This is unusual for our area and indicates a significant threat of severe storms. Rest of Cobb County: ENHANCED RISK (Level 3 of 5) – Severe weather is likely across the entire region. ??? Key Threats & Potential Impacts ?Tornadoes: -High Risk of EF2 or stronger tornadoes in western Cobb -Elevated risk for tornadoes in the rest of the county -Strong, long-track tornadoes are possible—especially west of I-75 ?Damaging winds of 60-80 mph — capable of causing: -Downed power lines and widespread outages -Significant structural damage -Fallen trees—blocking roads and endangering property ?Hail up to 1 inch in diameter. ?Flooding: Elevated risk of flooding and flash flooding from Saturday night into early Sunday due to heavy rainfall. ?Frequent Lightning: Increased likelihood of cloud-to-ground lightning strikes. ?? Critical Preparedness Actions Severe weather will strike overnight when most people are asleep—Nocturnal tornadoes are the most dangerous because warnings may go unheard. Take these steps now to protect yourself and your loved ones: ? Enable Emergency Alerts on your mobile devices (Wireless Emergency Alerts – WEAs). ? Have Multiple Ways to Receive Warnings – Don’t rely solely on one method (e.g., cell phones, weather radios, local TV/radio). ? Monitor Weather Updates from trusted local news outlets and the NWS. ? Secure Outdoor Items to prevent them from becoming dangerous projectiles. ? Identify Your Safe Shelter: Go to the lowest level of your home (e.g., basement or interior room with no windows). ? Prepare an emergency kit with essentials (flashlights, batteries, water, first aid supplies, and important documents). Please share this information and stay vigilant. Preparedness saves lives.
