In 2014, as a new Project Manager, I reluctantly collaborated with Coastline Equipment Inc. and was instructed to purchase a tote dumper from them for a project in Alaska. At that time, they were our competitors, and I was frustrated that I couldn’t design one myself or have our shop handle it. The owner of our fabrication shop insisted, “No! Coastline Equipment can build those better than we can.” Now, a decade later, working with them I see the truth in that statement. Our team has refined its skills to produce high-quality tote dumpers used across the United States. Recently, a customer requested a duplicate of a tote dumper we manufactured 12 years ago, highlighting its reliability. While they wanted it unchanged, we continue to innovate, as shown in the first three pictures of new designs. The tote dumper features a robust and sanitary design that allows for safe dumping of products onto work areas or conveyors, relieving workers of heavy lifting. Coastline also considers any and all special applications. Project Highlight Our team has skillfully engineered, designed, fabricated, and installed an outstanding Down-Go Spiral Conveyor made specifically for can products. This conveyor is capable of handling 12–16-ounce cans while efficiently processing 1,250 cans per minute, showcasing our commitment to excellence. This system has been equipped with a mid-range laser optic sensor. The sensor effectively detects positional changes in the spiral’s take-up mechanism. We also incorporated sensors and remote devices to monitor belt lift and tension. Our custom perimeter guarding, crafted from stainless sheet metal, was expertly punched in-house using our CNC machine to provide an eye-catching bay guard. This spiral conveyor arrived ready for installation, enabling our skilled installers and control engineer to set it up swiftly right off the truck. Our talented Bellingham, Washington team proudly welded and fabricated the spiral in 3 weeks. This spiral system, entirely made from stainless steel and food-grade washdown components, exemplifies our dedication to quality.?It was a full-service install and commissioning process that included control programming, an air knife, and a spray bar system to offer the customer an efficient way to clean. The system has been in service for several months and has helped aid our client in their production needs. What's in progress at Coastline Equipment lately? Our talented fabricators and technicians have been vigilant in maintaining our quality and creating a duet of Cooling Hydrochiller Spirals (Incline and Decline product transportation) with a fabricated sump that supports them and a fully custom-made stainless-steel enclosure. This system will include all stainless plumbing from the Sump, Pump, and Heat Exchanger back to the Spiral. The target range is to have over 7,000# of products run through the system every hour. The pouch product will come in at a scorching185F degree temperature and cool off to a 120F desired end temperature. Pouches will go through a pair of water removal conveyors and be dried off with a blower system, then conveyed to a rotating accumulation table; and finally, off to packaging for shipping all across the USA and beyond for the products to be enjoyed. Fabricated from Stainless Steel and Food-Grade Washdown components, this spiral system is proudly being constructed in Bellingham, Washington. Out with the old, in with the new! Coastline Equipment has a history of taking pride in our craftsmanship and building equipment to last for decades. Still, in a rare opportunity, Coastline led the charge of a tear-out of the same system we built and commissioned nearly 5 years prior. After long consideration the customer decided to move out of the facility; unfortunately, that meant this system (2 Hydro-Chiller Spirals) would not have a space or function anymore. Thankfully, this led Coastline down the path of building an even bigger system for the same client! In 2 weeks, Coastline's demo crew stripped the plastic off nearly 20 Tons of Stainless Steel, assisted in removing the cooling system components, tore out the pumps, removed several thousand feet of belting, piping, the platforms, stairs, conveyors and structure of the spiral itself. It did not stop with the stainless, things got itchy when the Insulated Metal Paneling that made up the two enclosures had to go. The best part is, everyone was safe, and no injuries were reported! Ten full-size dumpsters and six trailers later, all that remained was the concrete pad. Coastline has long been known for building and designing the largest Direct Drive Spiral in the world and the newest one we are about to commission is even bigger! What's gone out the door lately? How about an Edge Drive Ambient Spiral Elevator . . . Designed with food production and safety in mind - it's a beautifully tig welded "mini" 8-tier spiral, custom built for a client using an 18oz fully packaged product intending to run over 100 pieces a minute through their system. The temperature of the infeed to spiral was 185°F and it cooled off at the discharge to approximately 75°F Fabricated from all Stainless Steel and Food Grade Washdown components, this spiral was proudly made by our talented fabricators in Bellingham, Washington over 3 weeks. The best part was, that it utilized a Variable Frequency Drive for controlling the torque/speed, no PLC or HMI required, making it immediately ready to be incorporated into their existing pouch line.
