关于我们

The Gupta College of Science provides a premier STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education for our students. Our approach is based on a strong and distinctive liberal arts core, innovative and relevant STEM programs, and the inclusion of a wide variety of nationally recognized high-impact practices (HIPs) in experiential learning. As the largest college at Coastal Carolina University, we offer 12 distinctive undergraduate degree programs ranging from biochemistry to psychology, 14 various concentrations that provide focused expertise with those degrees, as well as 18 minors and one certificate program. For graduate students, we offer two master’s degree programs and one doctoral program. In addition, we offer three dual-degree options as well as a Coastal Marine and Wetlands Studies track in the MBA program offered by the Wall College of Business. What really sets our students apart are the experiences they gain while earning their degrees. These nationally recognized HIPs provide a wide variety of opportunities for students to become involved with faculty in cutting-edge research and outreach through our centers and initiatives.

  • Dr. Billy Hills, professor of psychology, recently shared his incredible experiences as a Fulbright scholar in Egypt with students, faculty, and the community. He captivated the audience with stunning photos and fascinating stories from his time in Cairo, where he collaborated with geriatricians at Ain Shams University’s Department of Geriatrics. His work focused on enhancing services for older adults and providing gerontology education for medical students and faculty as part of their continuing education system. Thank you, Dr. Hills, for offering such a unique and insightful glimpse into your journey! ????

  • Under the night sky, astronomy students recently gathered on the Douglas Hall observation deck for an unforgettable evening of stargazing! With telescopes set up and eyes to the sky, students marveled at celestial wonders—cue the ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’! ??? Physics major Josey Arbogast even captured stunning shots just by holding her phone up to the telescope’s eyepiece. Talk about an out-of-this-world moment! ???? A big THANK YOU to Dr. Patricia Craig and her students for sharing these amazing images! ??

  • Big News from Beantown! ????? Students and faculty from the Department of Chemistry have been making waves! Dr. Drew Budner, associate professor of chemistry, and students Regan Verespie and Jada Spake traveled to Boston to present their research at Pittcon—the world’s largest analytical chemistry conference! This is a huge honor, as Pittcon rarely features undergraduate presenters, making Regan and Jada’s achievement even more impressive. They shared the stage with industry professionals, government scientists, faculty, and graduate students. We are so proud of Dr. Budner, Regan, and Jada! ????

  • Students Ywomie Mota and Samantha Oliver, along with Dr. Melissa Baker, assistant professor of psychology, traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to present their research at the American Psychology-Law Society Conference. Ywomie and Samantha are members of Dr. Baker’s Psychology, Law, Emotions, and Attitudes Lab. While at the conference, they showcased their research and explored the local culture. Ywomie presented two posters on eyewitness recall and recognition performance of suspects, while Samantha presented one poster and delivered a data-blitz talk on jurors’ punishment recommendations for perpetrators of gun violence. We are incredibly proud of Dr. Baker, Ywomie, and Samantha for representing the Gupta College of Science and CCU on a national stage. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
