Congratulations to Matthew Mitchell, LCSW, LCAS, CCS, Assistant Director of Outpatient Treatment at Coastal Horizons, on his induction as a Jim Bernstein Community Health Leadership Fellow! The Bernstein Fellows Program, led by the Foundation for Health Leadership & Innovation (FHLI), is designed to cultivate rising leaders committed to improving health outcomes in North Carolina’s rural and underserved communities. As a Fellow, Matt will participate in a two-year experience that includes: Leadership development Educational programming on rural health Mentorship and collaboration with state and local partners A personalized project aligned with his passion and our mission Matt’s proposed project will focus on developing middle-level leaders in the field of community mental health and substance use, a critical area of need across our state. Through this Fellowship, Matt will gain deeper insight into the strengths and challenges of rural communities and further refine his leadership skills to champion equitable, accessible behavioral health care for all.
