Stage Harbor, located on the southern tip of Chatham, MA, is home to the town’s harbormaster, numerous marinas, public landings, yacht clubs, and beaches. Over the recent years, breaks through the harbor’s barrier beach deposited sand within the channel and created a navigational hazard. To maintain its marine infrastructure and keep it safe and operable, the Town recently completed a two-week effort to dredge the channel. The Scituate Lighthouse is lit once again! Our team is proud to be a part of this major preservation project, working with the Scituate Historical Society and Spencer Preservation Group to assess, stabilize, and restore the historic Scituate Lighthouse, originally constructed in 1811. Our team conducted an exploratory assessment of structural conditions, then provided engineering design plans, specifications, and construction administration for the historic lighthouse restoration project. Engineer Dereck Pacheco recently conducted #soiltesting at a residential renovation in Chatham, MA to improve flow to the existing septic system. Our licensed soil evaluators conduct onsite soil testing required for subsurface #wastewater disposal systems design. We coordinate and arrange with excavating contractors and local Board of Health officials, measure the rate of percolation, describe and classify the soils based on color and texture, and prepare and submit reports in accordance with the Massachusetts Environmental Code, Title 5. Eastham Town Hall, built in 1851, is listed on the Massachusetts Register of Historic Places. This community cornerstone has been undergoing a restoration to improve the building’s function and aesthetic. Our team, working alongside Keenan and Kenny Architects, provided civil and structural engineering design and construction contract administration for the project. We look forward to its completion.

Our team is working with Flansburgh Architects and Nauset Regional High School for the ongoing renovation and expansion of its aging, 50-year-old campus located within the Cape Cod National Seashore and serving students from neighboring towns. We are providing civil engineering design, permitting, and construction contract administration for the project, which will include two new buildings, upgraded infrastructure, (including a new, I/A wastewater treatment plant) and building upgrades to better serve the growing student population. The project is expected to be completed in time for the 2024-2025 school year.

At the recent community meeting hosted by our team in partnership with the Association to Preserve Cape Cod, TOWN OF DENNIS, MA, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Woods Hole Group, Inc., we reviewed different replacement options for two #culverts along Lower County Road – a low-lying roadway in Dennis, MA and a tidal restriction for the upstream salt marsh. The public had an opportunity to provide initial comments and questions regarding the tidal restoration options, which will enhance community #resilience to climate change by restoring degraded ecosystems within the Weir Creek #watershed.
