Thank you for participating in the Coast Summit and Film and Music Festival. You, Alia, and the rest of your family are inspiring and reflect the inclusive, positive learning experience we strive to create. Thank you for being such a positive voice in the community.
Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking on a panel at #CoastSummit to talk about how storytelling can be a driver for global action. I’ve always had a love and affinity for nature and the outdoors, so it was really great to have a conversation around how what we do at Roadtrip Nation empowers people to pursue their own interests and navigate their own journeys toward purpose-driven work. What made this day even better is that my daughter, Alia, also had the opportunity to present her short film, “The AquaGroms” and speak about how she and a crew of local Laguna Beach kids came together to launch a coastal trek of sorts that raised awareness and funding for local environmental organizations. Over the last two years, they raised over $28,000 for The Surfrider Foundation?and #GetInspired, two amazing organizations working to help protect our oceans. It’s definitely a proud dad moment to see your daughter up on stage, speaking from her heart and standing up for something she believes in (que the dad mooshball moment). Huge heartfelt thanks to the brilliant trio of Don Meek, Ben Warner, and Enich Harris?for pulling off such a masterpiece of an event, and for all the Changemakers out there rolling up their sleeves to help solve some of these massive challenges. What a special day, thanks Coast Film & Music Festival, Rivian, and A New Earth Project! #WeDoThisTogether

Spent a great day yesterday at #CoastSummit, part of the Coast Film & Music Festival. What an honor to moderate a discussion with these innovators for the panel aptly named “MODERN ALCHEMY: Material Transformation for a Healthy Planet.” We spoke about their innovation journeys, the status quo they were out to disrupt, the challenges they face, the wins they've had, and more. From cleaning up rivers and making waste-based furniture from what's been recovered, to banana waste fiber/yarns, to upcycling abandoned fishing nets into premium technical outerwear, to making ocean-bound-and-found RPET material for high-end eyewear and other high performance injection molded goods, these guys are doing the hard work.
