关于我们
Coalition for the Homeless is the nation's oldest advocacy and direct service organization helping homeless men, women, and children. We are dedicated to the principle that affordable housing, sufficient food, and the chance to work for a living wage are fundamental rights in a civilized society. Since our inception in 1981, the Coalition has worked through litigation, public education, and direct services to ensure that these goals are realized.

Deputy Executive Director for Advocacy Will Watts said about the appointment, “with the City continuing to fail in providing new arrivals with shelter and the critical assistance they need, having an effective advocate like Jamie leading our new arrivals monitoring efforts will only inure to the benefit of the entire new arrival community.” In joining the team, Jamie shared "I am excited to continue to fight to ensure that our newest New Yorkers are treated with dignity and respect and given the support they need and are entitled to."

Beautiful remarks, Christa. And thank you for your kind donation!

If you'd like to help a NYC child who is homeless have a great start to the school year, I've got your answer. Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. is having a backpack drive. For a donation of $25, they are able to buy a brand new backpack and load it up with school supplies for a NYC child who is living in the homeless shelter system. I just made my donation (in honor of Phinny, of course.) I know what it's like to have nothing new to start the school year - how that causes a child to feel left out, how it leads to bullying, and how it depletes their confidence before they've even started the new year. I am beyond grateful that as an adult I can help a child in my city not have to go through that and start the school year knowing someone believes in them. #projectbacktoschool If you'd like to help, you can make a donation at this link: https://lnkd.in/g2YG-ZJh

A Life-Changing Experience at Camp Homeward Bound In the summers of 1989 and 1990, I worked as a counselor at Camp Homeward Bound, a camp for homeless and sheltered children. This experience profoundly changed my perspective on life and privilege. Growing up, I enjoyed a stable and loving childhood. My time at Camp Homeward Bound, however, opened my eyes to the challenges faced by many children. Despite their circumstances, these kids showed incredible resilience and joy. Camp Homeward Bound, in partnership with the Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. provided a safe and fun environment where children could escape their struggles and simply be kids. From games and crafts to campfire stories, the camp fostered a sense of normalcy and happiness. Working with these children, I saw the impact of compassion and support. Simple acts of kindness helped build their confidence and sense of belonging. The bonds formed at camp were life-affirming and gave these children hope and encouragement. The summers at #CampHomewardBound were more than just a job; they reshaped my worldview and ignited a lifelong commitment to supporting vulnerable children. The Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. & #CampHomewardBound continue to provide essential services, and your support can make a significant difference. Let’s continue to support and uplift these young lives for a #brighter future.
