Emily joined CWC in 2022 and has already been a key contributor to our Education sector. She is currently working on the Conway Education Center project in Washington, DC, where we are constructing a new special needs learning facility for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. In addition to her stellar work as a Senior Project Manager, she is active in the community, most recently volunteering at the National Association of Women in Construction's Camp NAWIC. One of her colleagues best described her get-it-done attitude: “Emily has the absolute drive and care that every CWC employee is expected to have. My Partner Jonathan Fox and I had the opportunity to teach one of the sessions at this years Project Managers’ & Superintendents’ Academy hosted by Associated Builders and Contractors of Metro Washington. The 2 days academy was sold out again this year. It is always one of the most popular events that is put on by the management education committee. Jon and I share over 40 years of combined experience. We share our knowledge and experience from the project manager and the superintendent role. Grateful to Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC) for supporting us in this event as well as being a big supporter of Associated Builders and Contractors

Each year, we honor employees who consistently exceed day-to-day expectations and deliver exceptional performance on the job, amongst their peers, and in the community. The CWC Founders Award was created to provide the name and physical recognition for those whom this award is bestowed upon yearly. This year, Superintendent Daniel Dragos was a recipient. Dan joined CWC in 2011, working summers as a laborer while he was a student-athlete at Temple University. Following his graduation, he joined the company full-time as an Assistant Superintendent and quickly became a champion of wood frame and residential construction. “Dan works tirelessly and is 1000% committed to the company and its success,” said Managing Principal & Chief Operating Officer Greg Harraka during his remarks. “Dan has developed to become part of the future of CWC, and his peers know it too.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eSJDUKsp #workatcwc #employeerecognition #multifamilyconstruction #buildingthedmv

Our Foxcroft School project team has been building more than just a new STEAM wing – they’ve been building futures by teaching students about construction! We are collaborating with Foxcroft by hosting Project STEAM Build seminars, each with a different topic. In the past few sessions, students have learned about the role of technology in construction and the importance of foundations and structure. As a bonus, students mixed their own concrete to get a hands-on learning experience! Kudos to Project Manager Bridgett Redding, Superintendent Colin O'Donnell, and Field Engineer Caitlin Shirvinski for trading their perspectives with students. #buildingthedmv #buildingfutures #constructioneducation #STEAM

Members of the Structural Engineers Association - Metropolitan Washington - Young Members Group (SEA-MW-YMG) and the ASCE National Capital Section SEI - Structural Engineering Institute enjoyed an exclusive tour of our Truesdell Elementary School Modernization project in Northwest Washington, DC. This tour offered participants a unique glimpse into the innovative use of #MassTimber in modern #SchoolDesign. Attendees experienced firsthand how this #sustainable material is transforming #EducationalFacilities. The tour covered each phase of #TimberConstruction, from delivery and on-site storage to the installation process, and included a showcase of the intricate connections between timber and steel, demonstrating how these hybrid systems contribute to #StructuralStability and durability. Key speakers included: ??Scott Miller with Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC), Project Superintendent ??John O’Donald II with WoodWorks, who supported the design team in selecting an efficient mass timber system ??J. David Pirnia, PE, Associate at SK&A Structural Engineers SK&A served as the Structural Engineer of Record (SER) for this project, with VMDO Architects as the Architect, Blue Skye Construction and Development, DC and Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC) as the joint builders. Mass timber was supplied by Nordic Structures. Rory Pillsbury did it again folks - bravo to an incredibly inspiring fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington.
