Call for ACEs Champion Award Nominations! Every year, CoAction honors individuals in our communities who excel in preventing and resolving the impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)! About the ACEs Champion Award: The Community Action ACEs Champion Award recognizes individuals and organizations in Northwest Indiana committed to addressing ACEs. These champions are dedicated to creating safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments, whether by preventing adverse experiences, helping children process trauma, or aiding individuals of all ages in healing from ACEs. What are ACEs? Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are extremely stressful events that overwhelm a child’s nervous system, leading to an increased risk of chronic diseases, mental health issues, social difficulties, and early death. However, safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments can protect children from these effects. We are now seeking nominations for our 2024 ACEs Champion Awards. One important feature of Community Action Agencies is that the people served have a voice in the programs and decisions that affect them. One way we do this is to have at least one-third of our Board of Directors represent people who are directly impacted by CoAction’s mission and programs. Currently, there is an opening on our Board of Directors for a representative of low-income families or communities in Jasper, Newton, Pulaski, or Starke Counties. This individual may be low-income or may be employed by an organization that serves low- to moderate-income households. At this time, we are accepting nominations for individuals who could fill this vacancy. To nominate yourself or someone else using our electronic form, please follow the link below.
