Your Water is Our Promise. ?? Serving our community through 7 areas of service. Formed in 1918 to protect and conserve.

关于我们

CVWD was formed in 1918 to protect and conserve local water sources. Since then, the district has grown into a multi-faceted agency that delivers irrigation and domestic (drinking) water, collects and recycles wastewater, provides regional storm water protection, replenishes the groundwater basin and promotes water conservation. CVWD's service area covers approximately 1,000 square miles from the San Gorgonio Pass to the Salton Sea, mostly within the Coachella Valley in Riverside County, California. The boundaries also extend into small portions of Imperial and San Diego counties. The Coachella Valley’s idyllic winters make it a popular destination for tens of thousands of seasonal visitors and part-time residents who travel here from throughout the United States and many other countries to enjoy championship-level golf, tennis, polo, swimming, hiking, spas, fine dining and upscale shopping. These vibrant industries are possible in the desert because the district has been a responsible manager of water resources since its formation in 1918.

We are pleased to announce that the North Indio Flood Control Project is moving steadily toward completion. ??????? Once complete, it’ll increase flood protection for nearby homes and eliminate the legal requirement for those residents to carry flood insurance. The project will guide stormwater flows from surrounding mountains through Sun City Palm Desert and Shadow Hills into the Coachella Valley Stormwater Channel, increasing protection in the area. We’re aiming to wrap things up by the end of 2024. Stay tuned! Construction updates and project details available at cvwd.org/northindio

Exciting construction update! ? With the addition of our new T1 Pump Station at our Wastewater Reclamation Plant - 10, we are able to connect 21 new customers to our nonpotable water service – doubling our current service capacity and reducing the demand of groundwater to meet our customers’ irrigation needs. New customers of our recycled and nonpotable water service include golf courses and HOAs in Palm Desert, Bermuda Dunes, Thousand Palms, La Quinta, and Indian Wells. The project is expected to be fully complete by the end of 2024. Increasing the supply and use of nonpotable water is a key component of CVWD’s long-range water management plans that emphasize conservation, groundwater replenishment, as well as using recycled and imported water for golf, farm, and large landscape irrigation.

It was an honor to help kick off the 2024 CAPIO Annual Conference by hosting attendees for a behind-the-scenes tour of our Palm Desert Wastewater Reclamation Plant - 10 and Groundwater Replenishment Ponds. While visiting the area for the conference, Communications professionals from across the California public sector were able to get a first hand look at some of our water management operations and learn about the rich water history the Coachella Valley proudly holds. ?????? #infrastructureweek #CAPIO24 #wearecapio
