On March 13th, we had our first Women’s Resource Group event at Episcopal Health Services, Inc., and I couldn’t be more excited to serve as a co-chair! Our event featured the inspiring Coach Dora LLC, who explored the critical role of women in healthcare and shared invaluable insights. It was an incredible workshop that set the foundation for what’s to come. Creating spaces where women can connect, support, and uplift each other is so important, especially in healthcare. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey and hosting more events that foster growth, wellness, and empowerment. Up next: our Women & Wellness event tomorrow March 27th, where we’ll focus on self-care with massage and aromatherapy! It was truly an honor and an adrenaline rush to be in the presence of the powerful members of the National Dominican Women’s Caucus (NDWC) under the leadership of Zenaida Mendez. Zenaida's visionary leadership extends beyond borders in 2000, as the Founder and Board President of the NDWC where she has galvanized Latinas and Women of Dominican descent to advocate for gender equity and social justice. Her dedication to intersectional feminism is further evidenced by her role as the First Director of the Racial Diversity Program at the National Organization for Women (NOW) and as the First Woman of Color to serve as President of the New York State Chapter of NOW. I was invited to speak on the Education Panel moderated by Dr. Esther Hernandez-Medina, Professor of Latin American Gender and Women Studies at Pomona California. It was a privilege to share the stage with the NYC Public Schools 32nd Chancellor, Melissa Aviles-Ramos. Chancellor Aviles-Ramos is also a Bronx native and the first Puerto Rican woman to be appointed to this executive leadership role. She presented a compelling vision for improving teaching and learning for the close to one million students that are served by the NYC DOE. Brava!
