Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Erik Sabbeth worked as a musician and music teacher. He had a career and a home. Struggles with his mental health led to him becoming unhoused, and he wound up in jail. One of CDHS’s mental health transitional living homes has helped him get back on his feet and change his life.?“These are people who are just hard up on their luck and who need an opportunity to grow and develop in a safe place where they can become human again,”?Sabbeth said. Colorado’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) will begin accepting applications on November 1. Energy costs are projected to rise this winter. Yesterday's 145th anniversary celebrations at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo honored the service of staff like Herb Brockman. He has worked at the hospital for 51 years, making him the longest-serving State of Colorado employee! More than 130 staff have at least 20 years of service dedicated to the hospital.
