It was an honor to celebrate alongside such passionate and dedicated people who have played—and continue to play—a vital role in transforming Southeast Michigan’s nonprofit landscape. The evening’s conversations, connections, and reflections were a testament to the power of collaborative action in driving meaningful change. As we are celebrating 5 Years of impact, we’d like to shoutout one of our incredible 2024 KIP:D+ grantees, The Black Bottom Archives! With the help of KIP:D+ funds, they are able to launch the inaugural Preserving Black Legacy Fellowship. This innovative program will empower a cohort of seven Black Detroiters to dive into community archiving, focusing on the rich history of Black Detroit. Together, we're preserving history and empowering voices! ?? Celebrating 5 Years of Impact! ?? The Activate Fund has played a large role in helping @thecarrcenter_detroit adapt and thrive during challenging times. When the pandemic shut down in-person events, the grant enabled the organization to invest in the technology needed to transition to digital programming. This shift allowed them to reach a global audience of over 27,000 people with their series “Duos + Duets.” Thanks to the Activate Fund, The Carr Center not only kept the arts alive during the pandemic but expanded their reach and impact. ?? Celebrating 5 Years of Impact! ?? We’d like to highlight the amazing work of first-time KIP+ grantee, @agirllikemeinc! With their recently awarded grant, they plan to create a central resource hub in the Brightmoor community, offering crucial support like baby items, feminine hygiene products, and outreach programs for teen moms and young girls in need. This is the largest grant the organization has received, marking an incredible milestone for founder Tyra Moore, who was featured on @thedrewbarrymoreshow last year. At Co.act, we know the importance of taking a break to recharge and reset. That’s why we’ve committed to prioritizing wellness by giving our team a mental health day each month. ?? Today, we’re focusing on our executive director Allandra, and how she spent her day. "Mental health days are a great way for me to model sustainable leadership, honor the power of the pause, and deepen my well-being practices. I spent our mental health day being in nature and honoring movement of my body with a bike ride on one of my favorite trails. I also spent some time reading the Black Joy Project, which is a great reminder to center joy in our personal and professional lives." We want to know, what’s your go-to for self-care?
