?? You’re Tasked with Sustainability. Now What? ?? Chiefs of Staff often find sustainability landing on their plate—whether as a part of larger company strategy, leadership priorities, or simply because no one else owns it. But where do you start? We hosted a webinar with Chief of Staff Network this week to explore this challenge, and were joined by leaders from Zeelo Medium and ZGF Architects. If you couldn't make it, check out the recorded video in comments and key takeaways here: ? Build the Business Case: Every company might have a different business case: Medium aligned sustainability with its brand as an ethical publishing platform while ZGF Architects responded to client demand ?? Engage Internal Stakeholders: Find champions across the company and engage them; create a #climate Slack channel or tap into employees' personal passions for sustainability ?? Education & Transparency are Key: There will be challenges along the way - all panelists faced decision paralysis with so many options and not enough clarity. Economic shifts and carbon market skepticism influence how customers and employees view climate strategies. Educating stakeholders transparently about your initiatives and how you made your decision is critical. ?? Define Success: Understanding what success looks like is important to long term progress. Zeelo tracks the % of sustainable trips taken while ZGF Architects and Medium measure new business won and customer satisfaction. Lessons Learned: ?? Find champions at all levels - this isn’t a solo effort. ?? You don't need to be the sole face of sustainability at your company -embed it into leadership priorities. ?? Break down big goals into small, meaningful steps. (Swap out swag, introduce vegan lunches, etc.) Sustainability is a journey and Chiefs of Staff have the power to shape meaningful change—but they don’t have to do it alone. ?? ?? How can you still create a high-impact carbon credit strategy when you don’t have the same team or resources as Microsoft? Not every company has a full carbon team, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting started. At #GreenBiz25, our panelists Steven Siger Sean McPhillips William Callahan Giulia Carbone explored how lean teams can build effective carbon credit strategies while navigating internal buy-in, budget constraints, and evolving market expectations. Key takeaways: ? Start small, learn, and iterate. Many teams began with small offsetting goals and initiatives then improved their strategy as they went. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. ? A diversified portfolio reduces risk. Following frameworks like the Oxford Offsetting Principles, companies found that spreading purchases across different project types ensured resilience. ? High integrity matters - for both impact and reputation. Rating agencies and transparent selection criteria helped teams justify decisions to CFOs and avoid reputational risks. ? Internal buy-in is critical. Whether it’s employees, leadership, or customers, aligning with key stakeholders makes budgeting and decision-making easier. Some teams tied their carbon strategy to business unit budgets and priorities to amplify impact. ? Offsetting works best when combined with decarbonization efforts. Value chain reductions are integral for the overall strategy, bring people along, and build momentum. ? Don’t overthink when to start - just start. Companies aren’t all Microsoft or Stripe, but even teams of 1 can implement thoughtful strategies. The key is knowing what story you want to tell and aligning your approach accordingly. For those working on carbon strategies - let’s keep the conversation going! ?What helped you get started? How did you overcome the challenges that come with being a lean team? What benefits come with being a lean team? Would love to hear your experiences in the comments! #CarbonMarkets #Sustainability #CarbonOffsets #ESG #ClimateAction Margaret Morales Arathi Gowda Donna Lee Duncan van Bergen Chase Buzzell

?? Did you know that products with The Climate Pledge Friendly badge on Amazon can see up to a 12.2% increase in weekly sales as compared to prior to obtaining the badge? The Climate Pledge brings companies together to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 and since 2019, has seen 542 signatories join. Not only are these companies working together to lead on climate, but brands who have signed on to The Climate Pledge also see real tangible business benefits. So what does it mean to be a signatory? Becoming a signatory means committing to three key actions: ?? Regular Reporting: Measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on an ongoing basis ??? Carbon Elimination: Implement real business changes to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement ?? Credible Offsets: Neutralize remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, and permanent carbon credits to reach net-zero by 2040. At CNaught, we help brands achieve the third commitment - credible offsets - with our curated, high-integrity carbon credit portfolios. Our solutions ensure that companies can meet The Climate Pledge’s requirements affordably and in a fraction of the time. If you’re committed to The Climate Pledge, we’d love to help you meet your commitments. Reach out to our team to learn more. #climatepledge #climatechange #climatepledgefriendly

?? Last year, The Change Climate Project (formerly Climate Neutral) introduced updated rules for brands seeking their 2025 Climate Label certification. What changed and what does this mean for companies seeking certification? The Climate Label’s new certification standard introduces stricter measurement, verification, and investment guidelines. The main update to the new standard is a required Climate Transition Budget (CTB), calculated as a multiple of a company’s annual emissions, that is to be directed towards climate investments. This amount must be invested in qualifying projects across Value Chain Abatement (VCA) within a company’s own value chain, expenditures Beyond Value Chain (BVC), and Other Contributions to the net-zero transition. At CNaught, we believe in these new standards so much that we’re pursuing The Climate Label certification ourselves! And we’re making it simple for others to follow suit. We’ve designed an exclusive carbon credit portfolio that enables companies to satisfy The Climate Label’s BVC requirements while still mitigating 100% of their emissions and staying within budget. We are making it easy for you to achieve The Climate Label certification. Reach out to our team to learn more.
