This week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend my very first #NSBE national convention in Chicago, and what an amazing experience it was! Connecting with engineers from all over the country (from all over the the world, truly) and participating in transformative workshops made this event truly special.
One of the highlights for me was attending a coaching workshop, where I learned valuable strategies to help individuals unlock their full potential—something I am deeply passionate about, especially in the context of recruiting and mentorship. I also took part in a mental health in grad school session, which was truly inspiring and provided meaningful insights on maintaining well-being throughout the PhD journey.
Beyond the sessions, I had the privilege of representing the Carnegie Mellon Chemical Engineering department at the Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering recruiting booth. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff, faculty, and fellow graduate students who helped me guide prospective students interested in our programs. Special shoutouts to Alaine Allen, EdD , Jennifer Spirer, and Yanika Reid for making this experience incredibly rewarding!
#NSBE50 was also a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends, and with graduate students of the amazing Georgia Tech School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
Last but not least, I participated in the Technical Research Exhibition, where I had the chance to share my PhD research with the community. Engaging in meaningful conversations about my work and its impact was truly inspiring!
I’m very grateful for this experience and excited to apply all the knowledge I gained moving forward.
