Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association is a not for profit agency that educates, supports, and advocates for foster, adoptive and kinship children, youth and families in central Missouri by offering services and partnering with community and governmental agencies to develop healthy and self-sufficient individuals and families. Founded in 2007 by a former foster youth, foster parents, and adoptive parents, the CMFCAA is a community service organization that provides for the needs of foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship youth and families. What began as a small support group has grown into a multifaceted organization that provides direct support, education, services and advocacy to foster and adoptive families in a 13 county central Missouri region. Currently, we are assisting over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, over 400 adopted children in our service area. Our goal is to be a support to the families, children and youth in this area, and we work tirelessly to provide much needed services to them. In 2013, CMFCAA was recognized by the State of Missouri as the Central Missouri Adoption Resource Center in partnership with the Missouri Department of Social Services and LINC. In 2017, we adopted two new programs to further our impact. 30 Days to Family? is a short-term intervention to diligently search for a child’s relatives and kin to identify potential placement options and supports. Extreme Recruitment? is a race to find permanency for youth using 12-20 weeks of intensive recruitment efforts and permanency preparation. Family Development is designed to recruit and train families to become resource families for abused and neglected children in order to increase the number of qualified, supportive families in Central Missouri. With these new programs CMFCAA is able to reach more children and families to provide stability and support to the children who need it the most.

  • Our EFF team does more than just find family members. Extreme Family Finding? works to find a permanent home for each child served, and to support each placement through the completion of guardianship or adoption. The team serves children aged 10 and over, sibling groups, and children with medical or mental health needs, but exceptions to the age requirement can be made under certain circumstances. The team works to find a family for each child they serve by providing three forms of recruitment SIMULTANIOUSLY: Child-specific: A diligent search to locate at least 50 relatives. Contact with each relative will be attempted to learn if reconnection or placement can be discussed and explored. Targeted: A search for medical providers, support groups, and community service agencies who are familiar with a child’s medical and mental health diagnoses who may know of families willing to adopt a child with needs they are familiar with. General/Media: The EFF team reaches out to mass audiences by utilizing numerous forms of social media, TV, radio, adoption websites etc. Extreme Family Finding? provides services such as home safety walk throughs with photo documentation, background checks, a genogram, a contact list, and supportive services for each child and placement provider through completion of guardianship or adoption. 45-day courtesy cases are also available. Courtesy cases provide a genogram, a contact list and notes of contact outcomes, background checks, and a summary of people interested in reconnecting with or taking placement of a child.   • One of the things that sets CMFCAA apart is that we also serve informal kinship cases. Recently the Kinship Department worked with an informal family who took in three young, grandchildren from out of state. She was able to connect them to an attorney to file for guardianship, assisted with ordering and delivering groceries, requested beds, bedding and dressers for all three children and connected them with local resources to assist with other needs. #CMFCAACares #Kinship #ForTheKids

  • Meet Saphire a young woman who is looking for her perfect family to adopt her. Saphire is a passionate and curious girl who loves baking and cooking, often experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Her favorite colors are black and red. Saphire enjoys watching videos, especially anime, and loves learning new things to share her knowledge with others. Though she prefers the indoors, she happily makes an exception for swimming. Currently learning to skateboard, Saphire balances her time between her hobbies and her love for listening to music. One of her best qualities is the amount of facts she knows and likes to share with others. With dreams of learning about business and opening her own restaurant one day, she cherishes home-cooked meals, with her favorite being a delightful dish called Crazy Good Casserole.
