Meet Aasia, a young woman looking for her forever family! Building and creating things is special to Aasia! She likes to draw and organize things and states that one of her talents is doodling. The other talent that she's most proud of is being double-jointed on her shoulders! Aasia prefers drawing with red, black, and white colors. You'll often hear her listening to rap music or rapping a few verses to help get the creativity flowing. Aasia is adventurous and is not afraid to try new things. Her caseworker describes her as insightful and helpful, especially with younger kids. An ideal afternoon would be spent shooting hoops on the basketball court or practicing a new gymnastics skill for fun. To refuel, Aasia prefers to enjoy a cup of ramen noodles with a side of Flamin' Hot Cheetos and a Dr. Pepper to wash it all down. Her favorite character is Hello Kitty, and she admires wolves and coyotes out of any other animal. She believes having the superpower of mental strength is the best superpower out there. Aasia values respect and trust in relationships and states that she wants to be known for the progress she has made. This seventh-grader plans on being a police officer when she grows up. Aasia would do best in a family where she can be the oldest or only child. A home in an urban setting is preferred; however, all family types will be considered. Financial assistance may be available for adoption-related services. This is a LEGAL RISK ADOPTIVE PLACEMENT. For Missouri children, both home studied and non-home studied Missouri families are encouraged to inquire; only home studied families from other states should do so. 关于我们
Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association is a not for profit agency that educates, supports, and advocates for foster, adoptive and kinship children, youth and families in central Missouri by offering services and partnering with community and governmental agencies to develop healthy and self-sufficient individuals and families. Founded in 2007 by a former foster youth, foster parents, and adoptive parents, the CMFCAA is a community service organization that provides for the needs of foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship youth and families. What began as a small support group has grown into a multifaceted organization that provides direct support, education, services and advocacy to foster and adoptive families in a 13 county central Missouri region. Currently, we are assisting over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, over 400 adopted children in our service area. Our goal is to be a support to the families, children and youth in this area, and we work tirelessly to provide much needed services to them. In 2013, CMFCAA was recognized by the State of Missouri as the Central Missouri Adoption Resource Center in partnership with the Missouri Department of Social Services and LINC. In 2017, we adopted two new programs to further our impact. 30 Days to Family? is a short-term intervention to diligently search for a child’s relatives and kin to identify potential placement options and supports. Extreme Recruitment? is a race to find permanency for youth using 12-20 weeks of intensive recruitment efforts and permanency preparation. Family Development is designed to recruit and train families to become resource families for abused and neglected children in order to increase the number of qualified, supportive families in Central Missouri. With these new programs CMFCAA is able to reach more children and families to provide stability and support to the children who need it the most.

The Respite Team would like to shine a spotlight on one of our exceptional youth, Kyren. Known for his energetic personality at our Odyssey Events, Kyren brings a lot of enthusiasm to everything he participates in. While he can sometimes feel overwhelmed and experience big behaviors, he is always a welcome presence at our events. We’re excited to share that Kyren's caregiver informed us that he was recently selected for an achievement award at school, where he was recognized for his honesty. We are incredibly proud of all the hard work Kyren has put in to reach this accomplishment!" #CMFCAACares #Award #ForTheKids

Lynn Burnside, CMFCAA’s adoption program supervisor, reflects on her personal journey of adopting her grandson, Max, and how it has shaped her professional perspective. After caring for Max for over two years, she and her husband are excited to adopt him, though the process has brought emotional challenges, especially in their relationship with their daughter. Burnside acknowledges the complexity of kinship adoption, particularly in helping Max understand why he cannot live with his biological parents. As she prepares for the adoption, she emphasizes the importance of emotional support for families, saying, “This adoption has significantly impacted my views on how I do my work.” Burnside's experiences have also influenced how she supports other families navigating adoption, particularly kinship adoption. She encourages families to build strong emotional support systems, recognizing the complexities and emotions involved. Her hope for Max is that he grows to feel secure in who he is, surrounded by love and understanding from both his immediate and extended family. Despite the challenges, Burnside cherishes the moments spent with Max, believing that these moments of joy are crucial for his emotional well-being. #CMFCAACares #AdoptionDay #Adoption

Last year, an aunt who took in her two nieces faced the challenge of supporting them. Despite working with caseworkers, she struggled to access the resources she desperately needed. Then, she connected with us. We provided clothing, education, and, most importantly, respite care. With family issues adding to the pressure, finding respite care became a priority. The respite team quickly connected her with a provider who could support her and her nieces. Grateful beyond words, she shared that CMFCAA has offered her more help than any other organization, and although the support she received is irreplaceable, she hopes to give back in any way she can. #CMFCAACares #ForTheKids #KinshipCare
