We were excited to help WTS Greater Chicago Chapter look back on a year of accomplishments at its partnership appreciation breakfast. CMAP is proud to be a WTS-Greater Chicago partner. The organization works to promote, encourage and support women in northeastern Illinois. Thanks for all you do. Among this year's highlights: a newly created Policy Committee, chaired by our own Julie Reschke! Julie (from left) was joined at the event by Elizabeth Ginsberg, AICP, CMAP Executive Director Erin Aleman, Julie Burros, and Victoria Barrett.

Did you know? Today is #GISday! Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are critical to our work. These computer programs store and analyze map-based data that helps us understand demographics and land use in our region. To celebrate, we’re spotlighting one of our helpful GIS tools: CMAP’s Land Use Inventory. It is a resource for municipal and county planning departments, regional transportation agencies, federal and state agencies, university researchers, non-governmental organizations, consulting firms, and more. We're highlighting pieces of our Land Use Inventory, including the regional map as a whole and CMAP’s office location at the Old Post Office. We’ve also included two communities in which CMAP has recently completed planning projects: River Grove and Round Lake Beach. Today and every day, we celebrate GIS tools, the team members who develop them, and their invaluable contributions to our work. Check out our Land Use Inventory: https://lnkd.in/eYq3NRXr!

Roadway deaths and injuries are both predictable and preventable. Across our region, traffic incidents and deaths continue to rise, year after year. On World Day of Remembrance, communities around the United States are raising their voices for change. Residents in northeastern Illinois can make a real difference by pinning troublesome areas on a digital map that will help inform countywide safety action plans. Visit the Safe Travel for All website (and your county page linked within) to place pins on the traffic safety hotspots map, take the survey, view upcoming event details, and more: https://lnkd.in/gJrVbdBH

In the latest CMAP Update newsletter, we're featuring Nina Idemudia, AICP in our CMAP Board Spotlight. Nina is the chief executive officer of the Center for Neighborhood Technology, and she represents Chicago on the CMAP Board. Q: Tell us about yourself: why were you inspired to join the Board? A: I’m deeply passionate about advancing equitable, sustainable planning, and my personal background being from Detroit has shaped my commitment to these goals. Prior to my role as CEO of CNT, I worked in various government positions in Los Angeles and Chicago, where I focused on urban planning and community development. These experiences showed me the importance of ensuring that government policies truly serve the communities they’re meant to uplift. Joining CMAP’s Board felt like a natural extension of this work, allowing me to apply my skills to elevate inclusive, data-driven policies that address regional challenges. The opportunity to shape a more equitable Chicago metropolitan area truly inspired me to take on this role. Read the CMAP Update to see the entire Q-and-A: https://lnkd.in/gdFCe5vm
