I am helping to circulate this for anyone who has this reagent. The recalled Taylor Water Technologies reagent bottles sold with test kits contain sulfuric acid, which must be in child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). The packaging for the bottle with sulfuric acid is not child resistant, posing a risk of chemical burns to the skin or eyes and internal corrosive burns if ingested.

CMAHC Executive Director Kristie Riester joined Christopher Walker (National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) & CMAHC Board Member) and Kelsey Lyon (NEHA COO) in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands to support Aquatic Health Code adoption. Over two days, the team trained environmental health professionals, hotel pool operators, swim coaches, and health inspectors on recreational water illness prevention, pool operations, and chemical controllers—all within the MAHC framework. The dedication and collaboration in CNMI were inspiring. With MAHC adoption growing in Colombia, Guam, and beyond, the momentum for safer aquatic facilities continues!

Chris Walker, Senior Program Analyst at NEHA, along with Kristie Riester, Executive Director of The Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC), conducted a training series to start the adoption of an Aquatic Health Code in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The group included environmental health professionals, emergency management personnel, hotel management members, engineers, police, and swim instructors to discuss how to move forward with code adoption. Hi everyone, Betsy Watson here, Communications Director at CMAHC. Last week, I had the privilege of attending #AOAP2025 in St. Pete, FL, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who made me feel so welcome. Walking into a conference where it feels like everyone already knows each other can be intimidating, but I immediately saw the magic of the aquatics industry—its warmth, its camaraderie, and its shared passion for keeping people safe. For the past six months, I’ve been working with the CMAHC team to tackle big challenges and map out a path for growth. At the Environmental Health Leaders Forum, I gained a deeper understanding of the real impact of our work—something no press release or article about the MAHC could fully capture. Learning how the MAHC is often adopted piece by piece, seeing firsthand how public health professionals rely on it, and recognizing that while we may not always be able to quantify our influence on a neat slide, our impact is tangible, vital, and lifesaving. I left AOAP with a sense of purpose, fresh ideas for CMAHC’s future, and most of all, a heart full of gratitude for my colleagues.
