For those unfamiliar with us, Californians Together is a statewide advocacy coalition from the education community whose goal is to better educate 1.1 million English learners by improving California’s schools and promoting equitable educational policy. This #HispanicHeritageMonth, we are proud to highlight some of our coalition partners like the California Latino School Boards Association which brings together members from school boards across the state who are dedicated to meeting the needs of all Latino/a/x students. Continuing our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, CLSBA honors Ruben Salazar, a trailblazing civil rights activist and reporter. Salazar courageously advocated for Latino communities through his journalism, shining a light on issues of inequality. Tragically, he was killed during the National Chicano Moratorium March against the Vietnam War on August 29, 1970. His legacy lives on as a powerful voice for justice and truth. #HispanicHeritageMonth #CLSBAunidos #CivilRights

As co-founder of the United Farm Workers, Dolores coined the iconic phrase ‘Sí, se puede!’ (‘Yes, we can!’) and dedicated her life to advocating for fair wages, better working conditions, and civil rights for Latino communities.
