Reflecting on My Journey in Tech: From 42 Silicon Valley to IBM & Beyond Over 6 years ago, I embarked on a transformative journey at College 42, an innovative coding school in the heart of Silicon Valley, founded by Xavier Niel—often referred to as the “French Steve Jobs.” 42 is more than a school; it’s a free, hands-on, project-based program, where students ("cadets") learn through peer collaboration rather than traditional instruction. The experience was intense: during the piscine (a rigorous month-long coding bootcamp), I encountered tech recruiters from top firms and startups alike—proof of the demand for 42’s uniquely skilled graduates. Following this, I was fortunate to further my technical path through an apprenticeship with IBM, where I developed vital skills in agile software development, system design, DevOps, and more. As an Application Developer, I took on real-world projects, learning in a collaborative environment that challenges you to solve complex problems while shaping impactful digital solutions. Now, I’m continuing my journey at Western Governors University in Cloud Computing, earning industry certifications (AWS, Azure, CompTIA) that bolster my cloud and development expertise. The pageviews benchmarks also show incredible variance between industries. The Apparel & Footwear sector stands out with an impressive 192.86K pageviews, more than 20 times higher than the median value. In stark contrast, the Consulting & Professional Services sector has the lowest number of pageviews at 4.24K, which is less than a third of the median. Industries such as Automotive, eCommerce & Marketplaces, and Education exhibit significant above-average Pageview counts, while the Construction sector falls below. ?? Kicking Off a Real-World SEO Case Study! ?? I’ve just launched a case study to see how domain names impact SEO performance. To test this, I bought two domains: https://lnkd.in/gyYS82-D and www.hybridclouddev.com, alongside my main site www.arzugil.com. All three are now running with Google Analytics to measure the impact of longer vs. shorter domain names. So far, I’ve noticed that with Cloud Technology Computing, I get solid search impressions, but when I use a domain with just my last name, impressions drop to zero. I’m hoping the longer domain names will lead to more visibility and impressions. Excited to see the results! Apprenticeships: A Structured "Earn-and-Learn" Pathway to Success An apprenticeship is a highly effective "earn-and-learn" program that provides a unique opportunity to combine hands-on, on-the-job training with structured classroom instruction. This model allows participants to gain practical experience in a specific trade or profession while earning a wage, making it an excellent alternative for individuals who want to develop career-specific skills without the need for a traditional four-year degree. Throughout an apprenticeship, participants work alongside experienced professionals who mentor them, providing both technical knowledge and real-world insights. Additionally, formal classes or training sessions ensure that apprentices learn the theoretical aspects of their trade. Upon completion, individuals often receive a certification or qualification recognized by employers, and in some cases, by government bodies such as the Department of Labor (DOL). IBM Apprenticeship Program: A Pathway into Technology One notable example is the IBM Apprenticeship Program, which offers full-time, structured training in fields like software development and application development. I currently apply these skills in the data analytics department, creating custom applications as an Application Developer Programming Specialist. I consider myself a Data Scientist. I’ve developed a deep understanding of big data analytics, including how to extract, refine, process, and present data to key stakeholders. The only difference is I use proprietary technology you could consider it a stack called SAP I've worked on everything from the database side of things to the Group Reporting side where you present the data to key stakeholders, I even have a certification in SAP Analytics Cloud.

?? Time to Make a Commitment! ?? I’ve been meaning to dive into some key areas of tech, so I created a playlist of books I want to read and now it’s time to order them! Most of these are centered around Web Development (Progressive Web Apps), Cloud Computing (because this trimester’s classes are ALL about the cloud ????♂?), and Python (focused on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence). For some reason, I always take the hardest certification classes first instead of spacing them out, but hey, I love a challenge! ?? The cloud is crucial for what I’m learning, but my true passion lies in Machine Learning and AI—the cloud will just enhance my capabilities in those areas.
