Informing, inspiring, and empowering young people to exercise the rights of citizens in a democracy
关于我们
Formed in 1971, Close Up is a nonprofit that exists to educate, inform, inspire and empower young people to exercise the rights and accept the responsibilities of citizens in democracy. We fulfill our mission with exciting, hands-on programs for students and teachers in Washington, DC. We use the city as a living classroom, giving students unique access to the people, processes and places that make up our nation’s capital. Our students are a diverse group – coming from every state and beyond and from all walks of life. Nearly 1 million students have graduated from our experiential programs. Countless more have participated on our TV show and used our textbook (Current Issues) and classroom resources to debate hot issues in classrooms nationwide.

Spending Election Night with students never fails to inspire us as champions for civics. Through policy discussions and real-time updates, students witnessed the democratic process in action with a watch party at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C, making it a night of learning and excitement we hope they'll never forget. A special thank you to Amy K. Dacey, Close Up Board Member and Executive Director of the AU Sine Institute of Policy & Politics for joining Close Up President Mia Charity to walk us through key issues influencing ballots across the U.S.
