It doesn't matter what grade school you go to, you're almost always greeted first by the main office administrative assistants. And they're usually the ones helping you out the most! That's why CLIU21 held the Administrative Assistants Summit! This day was all about professional development to help admin assistants, from all over our region, be even better at their job and to meet their peers from other schools. We trained on AI, Google, Microsoft, and Canva applications. Our very own Assistant to the Executive Director Kim Talipan delivered a speech on how to build rapport with administrators and navigate school law. What a great day at the state capitol for all intermediate units! Our CLIU21 administrators joined other IUs from around the state for the PAIU Day on the Hill! Representatives made themselves available in Harrisburg so we can advocate for our mission and legislative priorities. It's all about the children and what we can do for families all over Pennsylvania! We are always preparing our students for adulthood and what's to come after graduation. We teach job skills in our school-to-work programs, training them in real employment scenarios. But we also make sure we are teaching them to be productive members of society outside of work. Whether it's navigating public transportation on their own, learning how to schedule a full day, or helping out more at home with their family. With spring weather right around the corner, we wanted to relive some winter magic one more time! We set up sled riding and "snowball" throwing at Weisenberg Elementary with our MDSB students! Yes, of course we had fun! But this is a lesson plan set up by our Adaptive PE teachers Alicia and Leah! Students are building social skills, practicing turn taking, and sharing. They're working on manipulative movements like throwing and learning the importance of physical effort! Our group of content teachers, ESL specialists, ESL teachers, and administrators from Catasauqua School District, Whitehall-Coplay School District and Salisbury Township School District explored the WIDA Proficiency Level Descriptors to determine appropriate instructional scaffolds and growth goals for English Learners. .
