Data for Housing Solutions was launched as a Commitment to Action by AFA and Tolemi at the 2023 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting and was highlighted at this year’s #CGI2024 in New York for having advanced affordable housing strategies in 17 cities. By equipping local leaders with the tools they need to make data-driven decisions, foster cross-sector collaboration, and learn from peers across the country, the Data for Housing Solutions initiative is addressing current housing challenges and building a foundation for more resilient, equitable, and sustainable communities in the future. Here's a snapshot of our progress. #affordablehousing #housingpolicy #dataforhousingsolutions

Wrapping week one at #COP29 in #Baku #Azerbaijan with my colleague Sarah Barton from the Clinton Global Initiative. Our key takeaways from conversations with many business, multilateral & civil society leaders at this #financeCOP where we embedded a #gender outcomes lens. - Climate finance and investment is not a nice-to-do for businesses anymore; it’s a bottom line imperative. From affecting workforce to reducing production costs to improving profit margins to resonating with customer bases, businesses don’t view climate finance through the lens of just being the right thing to do. Embedding and prioritizing sustainability in their supply chains is just good business sense. - The need for collaborative action for scale and replication of existing models is both urgent and logical: there’s no more time to just pilot concepts, there is urgency to act, now, at scale. We need to concentrate on what’s working – because things are! - Even if the cost of rethinking supply chains to prioritize sustainability might look prohibitive initially, it will result in improved margins and profits ultimately – in addition to reflecting the reality of what we know science tells us we must do. - The gender-climate-finance nexus is a core business issue. It’s essential for business success, with higher profits for corporations that apply a gender-smart approach to their supply chains, and with higher repayment rates for financial instruments structured around investing in women and sustainability – even the world’s poorest women. - Restructuring some traditional approaches to finance to apply a clear gender lens, in particular in the sustainability space, is essential and also an opportunity. Humility, creativity, learning, and exchanges of ideas will help improve economic outcomes for businesses, women and their families, and their communities.

This week, Mayuri Ghosh and Sarah Barton are at #COP29 – bringing the CGI community together to discuss solutions to accelerate and scale climate finance, including gender-smart and gender-inclusive financing. As we reach the midpoint of our “decade of climate action,” the need to fulfill our climate commitments is clearer than ever. COP is where real, transformative conversations take place – conversations that lead to bold actions for gender equality and economic resilience. By scaling both climate solutions and adaptation, we can create a more inclusive, sustainable future for all. We’re excited to bring together leaders like Jesper Brodin (Ingka Group/IKEA), Ankit Todi (Mahindra Group), Kathi Walker (General Motors), Lewis Perkins (Apparel Impact Institute), Luiz Gabriel Todt de Azevedo (IDB Invest), Jim Andrew (PepsiCo), and Mansi Shah (Self Employed Women's Association) to take action and create lasting change. In 2023, Last Mile Health and Integrate Health committed to working with African Ministries of Health to strengthen and sustain gender-responsive community health worker programs across four countries and develop and disseminate lessons learned that can inform other countries on their journey. Today, their team published 16 recommendations for governments and partners to take action in ensuring women community health workers are safe, supported, and fairly compensated so they can deliver the lifesaving care their patients need.
