Did you know individuals with TBI are nearly twice as likely to develop depressive symptoms compared to those without TBI. "Depression after traumatic brain injury: A systematic review and Meta-analysis" published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine, included 43 studies. Among these, 15 reported new cases of depression post-TBI, while 34 compared depressive symptoms between TBI and non-TBI participants. The Meta-analysis found a 13% incidence among 724,842 TBI participants and a relative risk of 2.10 when comparing 106,083 TBI patients to 323,666 non-TBI controls. Eleven of the 43 studies were deemed to have a high risk of bias. Sensitivity analysis confirmed the robustness of the findings, and no publication bias was detected using Egger's regression test.
