?????Exploring Priorities for a Just Energy Transition We’re proud to share the results of our strategic assessments into transition minerals, funded by ClimateWorks Foundation.? ???This work dives deep into the opportunities and challenges across 11 key countries—including Australia, Chile, Indonesia, and Zambia—to identify where greater attention, investment and action can drive the most impact for building secure, responsible, and resilient minerals supply chains, nationally and globally. ? As the world pivots towards more sustainable energy systems, transition minerals are critical. Our reports provide actionable insights for policymakers, philanthropic funders, industry, and civil society to focus resources where they’re most needed. ? We are excited to contribute to the just energy transition by equipping stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to drive greater sustainability through minerals value chains. By working together, we can ensure that the energy solutions of tomorrow are built responsibly, equitably, and for the benefit of all. ? ???Read more about this work and our findings here:?https://lnkd.in/dBVzRhfS Estelle Levin-Nally Blanca Racionero Gómez #JustTransition #Sustainability #Minerals #ClimateAction #EnergyTransition

By establishing Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and energy labels for cooling appliances, countries can reduce excess electricity use, reduce GHG emissions, and enhance energy security. UN Environment Programme’s United for Efficiency (U4E) initiative has developed Model Regulation Guidelines to support global best practices and help countries customize and implement ambitious policies, particularly in the Global South, preventing them from becoming dumping grounds for inefficient products. Following the development of these guidelines, CCC is supporting national-level implementation in priority countries as their governments work to meet climate and energy commitments through improved efficiency. Regional bodies like ASEAN are also harmonizing standards, with potential savings of 268 TWh of electricity and 209 MtCO?e by 2040. Moving forward, CCC’s efforts will also focus on supporting the global adoption of the newly released guidelines for off-grid refrigeration appliances and ceiling fans and assessing their potential impact. Our Soil Atlas is out now! Alongside our partner Heinrich-B?ll-Stiftung European Union, Brussels, we’re proud to release this publication highlighting the critical – yet often invisible – role #soils play in our lives and future on planet Earth. ?? A sneak peek: Healthy soils are ????: ?? vital for food security, #biodiversity and climate resilience. Yet around 1/3 of soils are degraded worldwide. ?? key for climate action. They store more carbon than forests do! ?? natural water reservoirs, helping to mitigate climate impacts like droughts, heavy rains, and floods. But land and soils are political. Land use competition ushers in a range of unjust practices that destroy people’s lives and livelihoods. ?? For investors, soils are a lucrative investment. ONE percent of the world’s farms manage more than 70% of agricultural land. This means land ownership is concentrated in the hands of few, while small farmers have less and less access to productive land, amplifying inequality. ?? Land grabs in the name of climate action, like carbon markets, are on the rise, often displacing Indigenous Peoples and local communities. As representatives gather at #COP29 to decide how we'll meet critical climate goals – and while we stand on the precipice of a 2C world – soils must be central to #climate policies in a way that protects people and the planet. Changing Markets Foundation's new report on Big Meat & Dairy emissions reveals how #greenwashing and poor regulation of the meat and dairy industry seriously undermines global #climate goals. Key findings include: - Big Meat & Dairy’s greenhouse gas (#GHG) emissions rival those of Big Oil and even entire countries. - Many companies rely on questionable methods to reduce emissions, such as techno fixes and regenerative agriculture. - Only three Big Meat & Dairy companies have 1.5?C targets aligned to net zero. They call for greater transparency and accountability from the meat and dairy industry, as well as robust policy frameworks to drive meaningful emissions reductions. More than 142,000m2 of cool roofs and some 12,000 lives improved — Cool Roofs Indonesia is tackling the country's urban heat challenges by transforming roofing and wall materials to reflect solar radiation. Led by Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Professor Beta Paramita, this initiative enhances thermal comfort and reduces energy use in line with Indonesia’s climate targets. Since its launch in 2019 as part of the Million Cool Roofs Challenge, the project has been driving market transformation by advancing research, developing a testing facility, and partnering with local manufacturers to mass-produce sustainable “cool panels.” Looking ahead, the initiative will continue expanding access to solar-reflective materials, including showcasing affordable “cool houses” for low-income communities as part of the Indonesian government's housing program. ?? Food systems are vital for a sustainable future but remain underfunded. Our new report highlights an alarming trend, showing that the portion of public climate finance that is allocated to food systems is falling, even as overall public climate finance is increasing. To tackle the climate crisis and build resilience, we must scale up finance tenfold, focusing on sustainable practices to support frontline communities at the sharp end of the crisis. Key actions needed for resilient food systems: ? Phase out fossil-fuel-based agrochemicals ? Shift to renewable energy in food processing ? Redirect harmful subsidies towards scaling agroecological approaches ? Support local and Indigenous food systems Discover how targeted climate finance can drive impactful food system transformation: https://lnkd.in/ebQwDUv3

Report by the Independent Global Stocktake West African Hub, (iGST WAHUB), on the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by West African governments reveals notable progress in climate ambitions. Revised targets show increased commitment to mitigating and adapting to climate change, with all countries strengthening existing targets or adding new ones. Launched during a side event at the #UNFCCC Meeting Room at #COP29, the highlights indicate that West Africa is taking bold steps towards a climate resilient future. The region has made significant unconditional commitments, accounting for 28% and 31.5% of resources needed for adaptation and mitigation. While this progress is commendable, more work is needed to address escalating climate challenges. The report highlights the region's reliance on conditional commitments, which make up 70% of climate change #adaptation and #mitigation efforts. This underlines the need for #internationalcooperation and support to unlock West Africa's full potential in combating climate change. The iGST West African Hub is led by #WASCAL and comprises civil society organizations across the subregion with funding from ClimateWorks Foundation #IGSTReport #ClimateAction #ParisAgreement
