Things are moving a million miles an hour in the climate tech FOAK space, as organizations across the ecosystem race to figure out how to solve the issue of deploying and scaling hardtech climate solutions. It's a lot to keep track of, so where can we get a pulse check on the work being done and the opportunities ahead? How about a series of rapid fire Lightning Talks from 10 of the leading organizations working on FOAK from different angles! The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced at CERAWeek 2024 today that Demonstrate Deploy Decarbonize 2024 (Deploy24) will take place in Washington, D.C. over two days on December 4-5, 2024. Deploy24 is the second annual gathering of decision makers from across the private and public sectors—including senior industry executives, capital allocators, community leaders, and others across the clean energy supply chain—all focused on accelerating the deployment of critical energy and decarbonization technologies and supply chains in the United States.

We were joined ??? by portfolio companies, policymakers, green banks and investors to demonstrate the power of catalytic capital and climate projects on the ground in unlocking local green jobs nationwide. And to Senator Schatz, Senator Van Hollen, Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality Brenda Mallory, Brandi Colander, Meredith Berger, Marian Weber, Joshua Aviv, Whitman Fulton, Steph Speirs, and Matt LeDucq who provided powerful insights in our Future of Climate Capital event. Here are a few highlights from the week: ??Former Administrator Gina McCarthy opened the week with a statement of collaboration: ”For the first time in years, I feel like our country is investing in itself again…we all agree that there’s a vision for our future. And that vision can be good for every state.” ???U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm highlighted the success of the IRA as creating “good problems” like “how you’re going to be able to train all of the workers for those jobs.” From our Future of Climate Capital discussion on how IRA programs unlock sustained investment in climate solutions and community benefits: ??Hawaii's Senator Schatz said: "The United States took the biggest climate action in human history with the Inflation Reduction Act, and it is working.” Now we enter the next phase of "doubling down on the solutions that work and developing new ways to decarbonize sectors with the highest emissions." ??Portfolio founder Matt LeDucq reported from the frontlines of climate innovation. “Catalytic capital is one of the greatest things government can do." He shared that with just $1.5M they could launch a major project this year. “It doesn't take a lot of capital to have a force multiplier. With this type of funding, we have an unbelievable opportunity to not only completely overhaul transportation, but we could do it in a way that is equitable.” ??Chair Mallory brought it home with a reminder to tell the stories of success: “Let’s be the champions of what’s working. If we spend all of our time focused on skepticism, you will lose the power of what is actually going on right now.
