Empowering conversations that connect all aspects of the climate crisis
关于我们
Founder Greg Dalton and co-host Ariana Brocious lead a broad, evidence-based conversation about climate disruption and its consequences by bringing leaders, experts and concerned citizens together in pursuit of empathy, common ground, and cross-sector solutions. Now in our second decade, Climate One is doubling down on our mission to be the premier platform for the conversation about the climate emergency. Through our podcast, national radio show, and live events for thought leaders and concerned members of the public, we create opportunities for dialogue and inspire a more complete understanding of the current crisis. We envision a world where clear-eyed awareness of the climate crisis shapes decisions ranging from personal behavior to public policy, and where the full spectrum of humanity’s wisdom, talent and expertise is marshaled toward the well-being of all life on Earth. Thank your for joining the conversation.

Catherine Coleman Flowers has dedicated her life to fighting for our most vulnerable communities. Growing up in Lowndes County, Alabama instilled Flowers with an intimate understanding of the ties between environmental racism, racial injustice, and systemic poverty. She put these lessons into practice fighting for clean water in rural Alabama, which led to her winning a MacArthur "Genius Grant" and being named to the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council. Flowers speaks with Greg Dalton on this week's episode, which also features snippers from Tennessee State Representative Justin J. Pearson's live program with Climate One at the Commonwealth Club World Affairs last year.

A third of Americans say that they've skipped out on essentials like food and medicine to be able to afford their energy bills. And deciphering your utility bill can feel like reading hieroglyphics on the walls of the pyramids. So to help our listeners out, Climate One set out to answer the questions of who and what determines how our electric bills are priced. The answers are surprisingly complex. Thankfully, experts Shelley Welton, Severin Borenstein, and Kevin Miller lend their insights to Ariana Brocious and Kousha Navidar — and our listeners — on this week's episode.

Our second day of SF Climate Week programming is just as packed! On Thursday April 24, we'll start the day with Alexis Madrigal in conversation with Margaret Gordon about Madrigal's new book "The Pacific Circuit" and Gordon's fight to keep coal out of Oakland. Immediately after, Greg Dalton will sit down with author Abby Reyes. The two will discuss Reyes' work leading the Community Resilience Projects at UC Irvine, where she brings together teams of faculty, students, and community collaborators to address environmental, health, and social justice challenges. One ticket grants access to both events. See you at the Commonwealth Club World Affairs!

Climate One is once again hosting a slate of events for SF Climate Week! We've got the details in this week's newsletter. Plus, a story on how the other countries of the world are adapting their climate policies to respond to the Trump administration:
-
Who’s responsible for climate change? Fossil fuel corporations have spent decades pushing the narrative that the burden is on us as individuals to reduce our carbon emissions. But the stark truth is that large corporations are far bigger contributors of greenhouse gases. Many of these corporations loudly adopted ESG —?environmental, social, and governance —?investment strategies as their way of going green. The idea sounds great, but some critics claim ESG is mostly greenwashing. So what's the truth? This week on Climate One, Greg Dalton and Kousha Navidar speak with Auden Schendler and Mindy Lubber to find out.
