Our goal for this newsletter is to create a space to highlight topics we care about that we do not see covered as often in mainstream Design and Climate conversations. We are focused on regenerative, equitable solutions, and questioning the role of the design within our existing industries. We recognize that design played a part in creating the climate crisis, and are looking beyond incremental improvements towards the larger systems change we need to enable a climate positive future. Our Project Blue Sky participants have been working all week here at Blue Sky Center in New Cuyama, CA learning about community resilience, water, farming, and how climate change is affecting them all. It's not just small or rural towns like here in New Cuyama, it's connecting the dots on how a variety of important social and environmental issues affect every place. We’ve spent our time here meeting with community members as we explore the town and research existing climate-resiliency efforts in the area and beyond. We are excited to share the second Project Blue Sky, happening APR 27 – MAY 13, 2024. It’s a unique hybrid workshop for design professionals to create climate-positive work. During the off-site, participants will ideate and launch a new climate-focused project that will be inspired by the Cuyama Valley in California. After the off-site, they have a week to finish their project in time for Pitch Day, where they will share their work to design leaders, climate experts, and the rest of the Climate Designers community.
