?? I can't believe it.. curriculum and programming for Climatebase Fellowship Cohort 6 is almost wrapped up! As we approach the end, we’d like to highlight the speakers and Fellows who made the last two weeks so special. The Fellowship Community sat in on a panel discussion on the built environment and adaptation, which featured: ? Davida Herzl, Co-Founder, CEO & President @ Aclima, Inc. ? Leah Ellis, CEO & Co-Founder Sublime Systems ? Emily Hand Director & Chief of Staff @ Verdical Group ? and?Cohort 3 Fellow Emma Greer (moderating). They explored the roles of innovation and policy in addressing carbon emissions in the built environment and other key topics. We were honored to host Sanchali Pal, Founder & CEO @ Commons, who shared insights on sustainable consumer practices, her company’s mission, and the role of individual choices in reducing global emissions. For the job seekers in our community, we hosted two jobseeker focused events that explored valuable insights on building careers in the climate sector, offering advice on job search strategies, networking approaches, and cultivating green skills. Panelists included: ? Daniel Hill, Creator of #OpenDoorClimate & Director, Business and Innovation @ Environmental Defense Fund, Natalie Lavery. ? Head of Marketing @ Climate People ? Patrick Burke, Leadership Recruiting @ Watershed Fellows had the exclusive opportunity to meet 7 climate organizations in meet-and-greet breakout rooms with representatives from: Climatize, Skyven Technologies, Brooklyn SolarWorks, Tyba, Pioneer, GlacierGrid, and Greentech Renewables during one of our regular Climatebase LIVE virtual job fairs. Emanuele Silvio Gentile, a postdoctoral researcher at Princeton University, explored in-depth the essential role of climate models in understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change. The circular economy industry panel featured: ? Dagmar Grote, Partnerships Manager @ Fashion for Good ? Alice Casiraghi, Expert Advisor @ Food Trails, ? Svetlana D'costa, Strategic Partnerships Lead @ rePurpose Global ? and?Cohort 5 Fellow Audrey W. (moderating). Our guests explored practical approaches for advancing circular economy practices across sectors such as fashion, food systems, and waste management. Usama Shahzad, Supply Chain Senior Officer at Better Cotton, offered Fellows an in-depth exploration of sustainable transformations within global textile supply chains. Finally, a special shoutout to Cohort 6 Fellows who shared their expertise through Fellow-led sessions. Fellow Randall Kempner led a thought-provoking discussion on the challenges and opportunities within climate philanthropy, and Breona (Bree) Jenkins explored strategies for navigating conflict and fostering productive, difficult conversations. ?? ?? ?? As we are prepare to hold our last few climate careers events in Cohort 6 of the Climatebase Fellowship, we want to take a moment to give a special shoutout to Career Coach and Founder of Work Ally, Magda Kufrej (she/her). Magda partnered with our team to deliver a dedicated climate career coaching curriculum that helped Fellows craft their resumes, refine their LinkedIn profiles, excel in interviews, and stand out in networking events. We are thrilled to see how much Fellows loved being coached by Magda; in their own words: “Magda's sessions have been one of the best things about the Fellowship. There is no sugar coating it —?last week's election results were a big hit to climate. Reflecting on the incredible energy we've seen at recent Climatebase Fellowship events, it's clear that the Fellowship community is still ‘full steam ahead' on climate action—a momentum echoed across the climate community. We’ve been fortunate to welcome an inspiring lineup of expert guests who have shared valuable insights with Climatebase Fellows, deepening our climate literacy and fueling our motivation to keep pressing forward, even in uncertain times. ??? A snapshot of recent events in the Climatebase Fellowship community: Rubi Soares, Founder of Terrascope Consulting, shared her expertise in applying sustainability principles across various organizational roles. For our corporate sustainability industry panel, we were joined by?Alina Truhina, CEO & Managing Partner @ The Radical Fund,?Sean McPhillips, Global Director, ESG @ Asana, and?Michael K?pke, Chief Innovation Officer @ LanzaTech, and explored critical lessons on advancing climate action and embedding sustainability in corporate and investment practices. Lucas Joppa, Senior Managing Director & Chief Sustainability Officer @ Haveli Investments shared insights from his extensive experience in sustainability, including his time as Microsoft’s Chief Environmental Scientist. Caroline Spears, Executive Director of?Climate Cabinet Action, led an insightful and timely presentation on the intersection of climate policy and electoral politics, emphasizing the critical role that elected officials play in shaping climate outcomes. Helena Merk, CEO and Co-Founder at?Streamline Climate, and Customer Success Lead,?Emily Moini, offered a comprehensive overview of the government grants landscape for climate-focused companies. We were grateful to?Carolyn Liu,?Cohort 6 Fellow, and?Susannah Hill, MBA, Cohort 5 Fellow for hosting a Fellow-led Session looking into the environmental impacts of AI and cloud computing. Finally,?David P. , Senior Lecturer @ Climatebase, was joined by?Christine Lu Hong, Investment Manager @ Techstars, to provide an in-depth look at successful fundraising for startups. As always, we are grateful to the speakers who join our Fellowship for the generosity of their insights, and to our Fellows for their unwavering commitment to climate action.
